Electronic Security Systems Specialist Sr. Job Location: General Services Division (GSD) — 1400 W Washington St, Phoenix, AZ 85007, USA Posting Details: Salary: Up to $61,844 Grade: 21 Open Until Business Needs Are Met Overview The Arizona Department of Administration (ADOA) General Services Division (GSD) is seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Electronic Security Systems Specialist Sr. to join our Physical Security Department. The role focuses on the safety and security of employees, visitors, and buildings across approximately 85 ADOA-managed facilities statewide (about 6.5 million square feet), with a primary focus on the downtown Phoenix capitol complex. As a senior specialist, you will lead the installation, service, and repair of security hardware and devices, manage access control and traditional key systems, maintain Video Surveillance System (VSS) networks, alarms, emergency phones, and panic alarms. You will also facilitate programming and ongoing maintenance of the badging system database and the Video Management System (VMS). Job Duties System Troubleshooting & Repair: Diagnose, service, and repair a wide range of electronic access control systems, alarm systems, VSS equipment, and door-locking hardware to ensure continuous operation. Installation & Deployment: Install new security infrastructure including card readers, electric strikes, door contacts, head-end equipment, IP cameras, software installs and upgrades, and mechanical door hardware across ADOA-managed properties. Lenel Database Programming: Program and manage the Lenel access control database, including creating and modifying user profiles, establishing new access levels, implementing time-schedule changes, and configuring system access for subcontractors and new device additions. Video Management System (VMS) Administration: Integrate new cameras into the network and program the VMS to optimize coverage, retention, and system functionality. Preventative Maintenance & Testing: Conduct routine system testing, proactive repairs, hardware adjustments, and thorough cleanings of field devices to minimize downtime and extend equipment lifespans. System Administration & Reporting: Produce detailed system reports, perform firmware and component updates, and manage deletion or modification of access privileges. Documentation & Work Orders: Accurately log, track, and complete work orders within the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). Technical Records Management: Create and update critical Security System Documentation, including programming matrices, device location maps, and comprehensive system audit reports. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs) Knowledge Principles and practices of security operations, maintenance and management. Construction principles, methods, and techniques. Understanding of communications network configuration, VLAN structures, and network switches. Current applicable building and construction codes. Statutes, rules, regulations, policies and procedures applicable to areas of assigned responsibility. Skills Practical application of the principles and practices of security operations, maintenance and management. Interpretation of blueprints and schematics. Utilization and interaction with computer-based systems. Experience utilizing AI driven camera tools for optimal camera performance and analytics for investigations. Interpretation and application of current building and construction codes. Developing and maintaining interpersonal relationships. Effective written and oral communication. Analysis and problem solving. Independent thinking. Ability Read blueprints and schematics accurately. Install, service and repair various locking and security systems. Properly maintain tools and equipment. Effectively use a computer with Windows and other software. Use a computerized work order management system. Work independently and in a team environment. Multi-task and adapt to changing priorities. Selective Preference Lenel Technician Certification preferred; 5 years or more experience in commercial access control installation and servicing. Pre-Employment Requirements Valid Arizona Driver's License. Background and reference check, including a criminal records verification.
