The Senior Technical Business Analyst will serve as a key resource embedded within the engineering team supporting Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations for the Cat Digital Dealer and Rental Systems organization. This role is the key bridge between the product owner and developers, bringing a strong technical background to assist with customers and field service staff regarding business needs, product design, backlog refinement, and solution delivery. The candidate will translate product direction and stakeholder requirements into clear functional and technical specifications, partner with developers to clarify design intent and delivery details, validate that solutions meet business outcomes, and help ensure D365 F&O capabilities are scalable, supportable, and aligned to product strategy.

What You Will Do:

• Coordinates with product owners, business stakeholders, developers, architects, testers, and support teams to track and communicate design, development, testing, support, and maintenance problems and solutions.
• Answers customer and field support questions; provides technical guidance and support for product integration and infrastructure issues.
• Assists product owners with technical expertise regarding business needs, product goals, and process requirements translated into actionable user stories, acceptance criteria, functional specifications, technical considerations, data requirements, and delivery-ready backlog items.
• Partner closely with developers during design and build activities to clarify requirements, explain business context, identify edge cases, analyze system impacts, and support practical solution decisions.
• Bring technical depth to product design discussions by evaluating D365 F&O configuration options, integrations, data entities, workflows, security impacts, reporting needs, and downstream process dependencies.
• Support backlog refinement, sprint planning, functional validation, system integration testing, user acceptance testing, defect triage, release readiness, and post-deployment issue resolution.
• Prepare clear documentation, design notes, walkthroughs, demos, and stakeholder communications that explain business value, technical tradeoffs, decisions, risks, and recommended next steps.
  

What You Will Have:

Effective Communications:

• Communicate business requirements, process impacts, system behavior, and technical considerations clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Facilitate working sessions, requirements reviews, demos, and validation discussions with business stakeholders, product owners, developers, architects, testers, and support teams.
• Create concise documentation, presentations, and walkthrough materials tailored to the audience and decision being supported.
• Ask thoughtful questions, identify gaps or ambiguities, and drive alignment across business and technical teams before work moves into delivery.

Business Analysis:

• Partner with stakeholders to define business goals, priorities, and requirements for D365 F&O implementations, enhancements, integrations, upgrades, and production support.
• Assess current processes, identify gaps, and recommend D365 F&O improvements.
• Translate business needs and product vision into technically actionable user stories, acceptance criteria, process flows, specifications, and delivery-ready backlog items.
• Collaborate with development teams to validate feasibility, dependencies, and solution readiness.
• Support solution validation, release planning, and documentation while maintaining traceability in Azure DevOps, SharePoint, and Confluence.

Software Engineering:

• Working knowledge of D365 F&O modules, configuration, workflows, batch jobs, business events, and feature management.
• Ability to review technical designs, data mappings, security impacts, integrations, and exception scenarios.
• Understanding of D365 F&O data entities, Data Management Framework, OData, APIs, and integration patterns.
• Data analysis skills, including SQL interpretation, validation, troubleshooting, reconciliation, and reporting support.
• Understanding of D365 F&O role-based security, segregation of duties, and access impacts.
• Experience using Azure DevOps or similar tools to manage backlogs, tests, traceability, and delivery status.
• Ability to clarify business context, system behavior, dependencies, solution fit, and technical decisions with developers.

Considerations For Top Candidates:

• Knowledge of finance and operations processes, such as GL, AP, AR, assets, cash, procurement, inventory, supply chain, order-to-cash, and procure-to-pay.
• Experience supporting D365 F&O solution design, including configuration, security, workflows, data, integrations, reporting, and environments.
• Ability to assess requirements, impacts, dependencies, and edge cases to inform practical designs.
• Familiarity with Azure DevOps or similar tools for backlogs, traceability, defects, testing, and releases.
• Familiarity with D365 F&O architecture and development concepts, including X++, extensions, metadata, source control, CI/CD, and deployments.
• Exposure to integration tools and patterns, such as Azure services, REST APIs, JSON, XML, authentication, and Postman.
• Experience with reporting and analytics tools, such as Power BI, SSRS, Electronic Reporting, dashboards, and data validation.
• Familiarity with LCS, release and environment management, testing, issue resolution, and production support.
• Experience with Power Platform, Dataverse, Dual-write, or D365 F&O–CE integrations is a plus.
• Analytical, problem-solving, documentation, facilitation, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Ability to analyze and validate data, including basic SQL and reporting support.
• Experience contributing to full-cycle D365 F&O implementations in an architecture, solution, or similar role.
• Experience with finance transformation, ERP strategy, operating models, or systems roadmaps.
• Experience supporting users, strengthening support practices, coordinating partners, or training cross-functional teams.
• Experience adapting ERP platforms for legal entities, acquisitions, restructuring, or similar change; broader platform exposure is a plus.
• Relevant Microsoft Dynamics 365 certification is preferred but not required.

Summary Pay Range:

$112,710.00 - $169,060.00
