Sr. Accounting Analyst

Guarantee Trust Life Insurance Company (GTL) is currently seeking a Senior Accounting Analyst to join our team!

This position is required to work on-site in our Chicagoland (Glenview, IL) office most days. Everyone receives 3 flexible remote days per month and 6 additional Friday PTO days each year! And we offer half-day Fridays - every Friday!

Key Responsibilities:

• Own end-to-end accounting and reporting responsibilities - perform and oversee the administration, accounting, reporting, and settlement process for approximately 30 reinsurance agreements across 2 companies and multiple reinsurance partners.
• Contract review - read and analyze to ensure all accounting, reporting, and regulatory items are correctly implemented and followed with the terms of the contracts.
• Record journal entries and reconcile general ledger accounts.
• Perform financial statement analysis and investigate variances as part of the monthly close.
• Prepare and analyze schedules for Annual Statements and audits (Schedule S, footnotes, etc.).
• Act as a key liaison between Accounting, Actuarial, Claims, IT, and Legal to ensure accurate reinsurance reporting.
• Ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and process improvements, including system enhancements and automation.
• Special projects as assigned.

• Bachelor's degree required, Accounting or Finance major preferred.
• 5-7 years of insurance accounting experience.
• Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, large dataset analysis).
• Experience with ERP systems for accounting.
• Ability to retrieve, analyze, and summarize high volumes of data.
• Strong problem-solving skills with researching and resolving complex issues and questions from reinsurance partners.
• Strong relational skills - partner and collaborate with team members and across departments.
• Estimated salary range for this position is $72,000-$85,000 annually, commensurate with experience.

The pay range provided is not a guarantee of compensation. The range reflects potential pay for the job grade for this role at the time of this posting. Compensation will depend on several factors such as specific competencies, relevant education and experience, qualifications, and industry certifications. Compensation ranges are subject to change and may be higher or lower than the range described above.
