Health and Safety

The HSE Leader collaborates with Project Management and Supervisory teams to anticipate, identify, and evaluate hazardous conditions and practices within project scopes. This role develops and implements methods to achieve incident-free work environments and supports all aspects of health, safety, and environmental (HSE) compliance. Anticipate, identify, and evaluate hazardous conditions and practices across all project phases. Assist in developing and communicating controls to mitigate identified hazards. Participate in pre-job and other safety planning meetings, including Activities Hazard Analysis and emergency response planning. Safety Communication & Education Serve as a liaison between the HSE Department and Project Management to ensure effective communication of safety policies and procedures. Educate and train project personnel on safety policies, procedures, and applicable regulations. Foster positive attitudes and a culture of safe work practices among employees. WorkSite Support & Auditing Conduct periodic worksite visits to identify hazards, recommend controls, and support ongoing work. Perform comprehensive audits and assessments of work plans, activities, equipment, and tools. Suggest improvements in safety procedures and oversee safety compliance of subcontractors. Incident Management Support incident management by assisting with investigations, coordinating corrective actions, distributing incident reports, accompanying injured employees for treatment, and providing post-incident drug testing. Administrative Support Assist the HSE Construction Manager with the maintenance of accurate training files and records. Perform additional assignments as directed by the HSE Construction Manager. Qualifications Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent) in Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or related field preferred. Professional safety credential from NCCER, BCSP, or similar accreditation source preferred. Minimum 5 years of construction safety experience (heavy-civil preferred). OSHA 30 Certification. Advanced knowledge of, and ability to enforce, all federal, state, local, client, and company safety regulations. Drug-free and able to obtain a TWIC. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Effective written and verbal communication skills; ability to train and educate others. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and able to learn company-specific software. Ability to maintain detailed work schedules, organize assignments by priority, perform repetitive tasks, and maintain confidentiality. Ability to work effectively with a variety of personalities. Physical Requirements Must be able to see well (naturally or with correction), speak, and hear. Must be able to ascend and descend stairs and traverse varying terrain to access project sites.
