About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Surgical/Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: 2 years in large urban hospital License: Active RN License Certifications: BLS required; ACLS and CPI preferred Must-Have: - 2 years of prior experience required - EPIC charting experience required - Must be comfortable taking care of behavioral health patient population - Previous behavioral health experience in acute care hospital preferred Description: This is a 20-bed general medical surgical and telemetry unit. The unit also cares for orthopedic patients. Patients may include total knee and hip replacements, complicated orthopedic cases, pulmonary, sepsis, GI, endocrine, cardiac, renal, and psychiatric illnesses. The unit has a secured floor for patients with underlying behavioral health conditions that may be flagged as violent, such as detox or dementia. Travelers are provided training for safety and de-escalation. RNs must be prepared to float frequently to meet the staffing needs of the hospital. Ratios are 1:5 during the day and 1:6 at night. Night ratios can occasionally be 1:7, but this is rare. Must be proficient in drips management across all floors. RNs will work within the established scope to meet facility needs. Weekend shifts will include 4 out of 8 possible shifts in a 4-week period, with specific days required. Travelers are expected to work 2 out of 3 major holidays. This is a nicotine-free facility. RNs will wear designated scrubs provided by the facility.
