Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Neuro Stepdown unit position requiring stepdown or PCU experience and ACLS/BLS certification.

Details

Work in a 30-bed unit comprising 22 Acute Care beds and 8 Neuro Stepdown beds within a hospital setting

Patient ratios of 6:1 on Acute Care and 4:1 on Neuro Stepdown

Unit supported by a charge RN overseeing the full floor, 1-2 techs, and a unit secretary

Uses equipment including vital sign machines, high flow oxygen, chest tubes, suction, titrating cardiac drips, Vapotherm, Bipap, and trach care

Commonly performed procedures include lumbar puncture and chest tube placement

Charting completed in Meditech

Day shift schedule from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM with weekend shifts required

Experienced nurses may float within 10 Tower after orientation

Requirements

Active RN license (TN or Compact) currently in hand

Current BLS required for Acute Care, with BLS and ACLS required for Neuro Stepdown

Minimum 2 years of RN experience required

Stepdown or PCU experience strongly preferred

Strong nursing and time management skills required for Acute Care assignments

Strong critical thinking skills required

US Social Security Number and date of birth required for consideration

One professional reference required

No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months

Additional Information

Provide bedside shift report, foster personal connections with patients, and participate in daily huddles

Dress code allows black, any shade of blue or grey scrubs, with any color permitted on Fridays

Unit offers ICARE recognition, a shout-out board, and employee of the month awards

Considered a strong starting unit for nurses aiming to transition into ICU

Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility, as local candidates are not accepted
