Position Summary

The Server Assistant plays an essential role in delivering MIKA's high standards of hospitality and service. Working closely with servers, food runners, and the management team, the Server Assistant ensures that the dining room is organized, tables are properly maintained, and every guest enjoys a seamless dining experience.

The ideal candidate is attentive, proactive, detail-oriented, and passionate about hospitality. This position requires a strong sense of teamwork, a polished professional presence, and the ability to anticipate guests' needs without being intrusive.

Key Responsibilities

Guest Experience & Hospitality

• Welcome guests with a warm, professional, and genuine attitude.

• Anticipate guest needs and provide attentive, discreet service throughout the dining experience.

• Assist servers in ensuring that guests receive prompt and personalized attention.

• Maintain a professional presence on the dining room floor, moving with purpose, confidence, and elegance.

• Respond promptly to guest requests and communicate any concerns to the server or manager.

• Support MIKA's philosophy of authentic, unpretentious luxury.

Table Maintenance & Service

• Prepare and reset tables according to MIKA's service standards, ensuring proper placement of silverware, glassware, napkins, and table settings.

• Maintain tables throughout service by clearing used plates, silverware, and glassware at the appropriate time.

• Assist with serving and replenishing water, bread, and other table accompaniments.

• Crumb tables and prepare the appropriate silverware for each course.

• Ensure that tables remain clean, organized, and properly maintained throughout the guest experience.

• Assist servers and food runners with the delivery and clearing of food when necessary.

• Reset tables efficiently between seatings without compromising service standards.

• Ensure that guests are never rushed and that table maintenance is performed with discretion and professionalism.

Dining Room Operations

• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the dining room, service stations, and designated work areas.

• Ensure that service stations are fully stocked with clean glassware, silverware, napkins, and other necessary supplies.

• Assist with opening and closing duties, including polishing, restocking, and preparing the dining room for service.

• Communicate with servers, food runners, hosts, and management to maintain smooth service operations.

• Handle all restaurant equipment, china, glassware, and silverware with care.

• Follow proper sanitation, food safety, and workplace safety procedures.

Teamwork & Communication

• Work collaboratively with servers, food runners, bartenders, hosts, and the management team.

• Maintain clear and professional communication during service.

• Support colleagues during busy periods and assist other sections when needed.

• Participate in daily pre-shift meetings, training sessions, and service briefings.

• Demonstrate a positive attitude, accountability, and a willingness to learn and grow within the restaurant.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Previous experience in a fine dining or upscale restaurant is preferred.

• Strong passion for hospitality and delivering exceptional guest service.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume restaurant environment.

• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

• Professional appearance and commitment to MIKA's grooming and uniform standards.

• Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and flexible schedules as required.

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and safely lift and carry up to 25 pounds.

• Willingness to learn MIKA's menu, service standards, and hospitality philosophy.

• Ability to communicate effectively in English; additional languages are a plus.
