Location: Kent Campus Hospital, Dover Delaware

Status: Full Time 72 Hours Biweekly

Shift: Days 12-Hour Shifts

SALARY RANGE: 37.98 - 58.87 HOURLY

General Summary: Three A (3A) is an Acuity Adaptable floor located at our Bayhealth Kent Campus in Dover. The unit is a 20 bed unit that cares for a variety of medically complex conditions including stroke, stroke like symptoms, telemetry, cardiac drips, continuous bipap and more. 3A is a certified stroke unit and staff on this floor are required to become NIHSS certified. 3A participates in the Nurse Residency Program and is a great place for new or experienced nurses.

The Registered Nurse provides professional nursing care to patients within a assigned unit with a commitment to quality and safety. Professional nursing practices, requiring specialized knowledge judgment and skill are performed using the process in accordance with hospital policy, procedures and nursing philosophy.

Responsibilities:

• Provide direct, professional nursing care to specified population of patients in the acute care setting.
• Develops a patient centered plan of care based on individualized needs.
• Maintains confidentiality of the patient medical record.
• Counsel and educate patients and their care partner on treatment plans.
• Administer medication following the five rights of medication administration.
• Provide wound care and dressing changes, as applicable.
• Read and interpret patient information, making treatment decisions, when appropriate.
• Consult with physicians to decide on best treatment decisions when appropriate.
• Performs nursing interventions to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
• Observe and record patient behavior and response to nursing interventions.
• Demonstrates quality, safe and effective patient care.
• Provides delegation to unlicensed assistive staff and Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) staff.
• Demonstrates standards of excellence which includes practicing nursing with core values of compassion, accountability, respect, teamwork and integrity.
• Demonstrates understanding and executes quality and performance improvement plans. (only for RN evaluation)
• Participates in decision making and takes actions based on ethical principles. (only for RN evaluation)
• Provides timely and accurate documentation of patient care.
• All other duties as assigned within the scope and range of job responsibilities.

Required Education, Credential(s) and Experience:

• Education: Associate Degree; Nursing; Or Nursing Diploma.
• Credential(s): Registered Nurse Basic Life Support; *ACLS / PALS may be required per manager's direction and timeframe *Commit to seeking specialty certification within time frame as indicated during interview
• Experience: Required: Preferred: Experience in relevant specialty.
