We are looking for a compassionate and team-oriented Advocate to join our Legal Advocacy team, providing legal advocacy, crisis intervention, safety planning and information/referrals to victims of relationship violence and sexual assault. The ideal candidate would have excellent organizational skills, strong communication skills and a drive to help others.

Reports to: Assistant Director of Advocacy Services

Supervises: Assigned Interns and Volunteers

Primary Functions

• Assess client needs and connect each client to resources and agency programs
• Prepare and maintain a service plan with each client
• Provide legal advocacy and accompaniment
• Collaborate and act as a liaison with various other organizations and agencies (CPS, Law Enforcement, DA, etc.) to meet the needs of clients
• Assist clients in filing emergency and final protective orders and restraining orders
• Collaborate with local attorneys to provide pro bono legal representation
• Assist clients with crime victims' compensation claims
• Maintain client files and records with confidentiality with accurate and complete documentation
• Collect and report statistical data reflecting the services provided in a timely manner
• Participate in DCFOF staff and education meetings as requested.

Requirements

Prerequisites

• Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, or related field
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Demonstrated understanding of relationship violence and sexual assault issues

Preferences

• Excellent oral and written Spanish highly preferred

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift 25 lbs
• Ability to easily climb stairs
• Ability to sit for long periods of time
