Academic Advisor – College of Nursing Position Number: 500629 | Full Time Equivalent: 1.00 | Classification: Academic Advisor | Salary: $55,620 – $60,000. Office: Office of Student Services, Division of Academic Affairs, College of Nursing, East Carolina University. Responsibilities Academic Advising – 70% of time: guide students through major and career exploration, support academic planning, course selection, registration; advise on university policies; provide referrals; maintain advising records; meet students regularly; collaborate with faculty and staff; utilize technology; evaluate admission applications; ensure graduation requirements are met. Teaching – 10%: teach COAD 1000 – Student Development and Learning in Higher Education; design course, develop syllabus, provide timely feedback, maintain course records. Recruitment and Retention – 15%: engage in recruitment events, meet prospective students and families, support retention strategies, develop and implement programming to support student success. Other Duties – 5%: professional development, committee work, projects related to student success, retention and graduation, office needs (contingent on funding). Qualifications Master’s degree in nursing, counseling, education, or a related field. Extensive knowledge of College of Nursing degree program requirements and related programs. Experience with student advising and/or teaching in a higher education setting is preferred. License or certification as required by statute is not required. Must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full‑time basis.
