First Shift Operator

Palmer Candy is looking for a First Shift Operator at the Hwy 75 facility. First shift will work Monday-Thursday. Monday-Thursday hours are 6:00 am - 4:30 pm with Friday hours varying from 6 to 10-hour shifts. Saturday hours may be scheduled due to business needs. Team Member's will be notified by plant management if schedules were to change outside of the times listed above.

Job Summary

This role operates all machines in a safe and efficient way. This Team Member oversees the production line as well as the packaging of confectionery products. This is a full-time position with the working hours being 6:00 am - 4:30 pm Monday-Thursday. Overtime hours will be Friday and Saturday.

Duties/Responsibilities

Ensure that Team Members are producing and packaging fine quality products in a safe, secure, and sanitary manner within the appropriate specifications outlined by company managers.

Required Skills/Abilities

• Learn to operate all machines in the Repack department safely and efficiently
• Make cases for product whenever possible
• Check product and bags for quality on a regular basis
• Pull full loads to the warehouse with hand jack or power jack
• Keep a count on finished products
• Assist and work alongside others on the line when needed
• Always keep work area and machine clean and clear
• Troubleshoot, solve and fix minor machine problems as they arise
• Train other employees as needed
• Immediately let the Supervisor know when a problem arises with a machine, quality of product or film
• Other duties assigned or required by the supervisor or management team

Education and Experience

• Prior work experience in a manufacturing environment preferred

Skills and Physical Abilities Required

• Great attention to detail skills
• Good basic math skills (addition, subtraction and simple multiplication and division)
• Ability to lift up to 5 - 36 lbs frequently and occasional team lift up to 72 lbs
• Ability to work/stand on concrete floor 8 to 10 hours per day
• Ability to work 6 days a week and overtime as needed
• Ability to work in a face paced environment with repetitive motion a necessity
• Ability to communicate effectively across all functions within the plant and the ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with individuals at all levels.
