Insurance Underwriting Operations Manager

Welling Young, LLC has partnered with a Managing General Agent (MGA), delivering specialized underwriting expertise for complex commercial property risks in the shared and layered E&S space. This Dallas‑based national program is fast‑paced, collaborative, and experiencing continued growth seeking an Underwriting Operations Manager. The Underwriting Operations Manager is responsible for underwriting process execution, team performance, adherence to program guidelines, and implementing control guards to ensure coverage accuracy, issuance, and compliance. This role combines hands‑on underwriting process development with leadership responsibility of Underwriting Assistants and Account Managers, ensuring consistent submission selection and high‑quality service to underwriting production teams and external/internal program partners and clients. The Underwriting Operations Manager works closely with all levels of management to guide underwriting operations, mentor team members, support internal controls, and contribute to the continued development of underwriting processes and standards. Success in this role requires strong process knowledge, commercial property and policy familiarity, leadership capability, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline driven environment. Relocation assistance is available for candidates outside the DFW area. Responsibilities Provides leadership that encourages and supports a professional environment and promotes a business culture that leverages attainment of desired business results Successfully leverage data, management information and technology to identify business drivers and trends and make the most of opportunities to improve results Develop underwriter assistants to evaluate commercial property submissions, processing endorsements, and preparation or processing of commercial property policy documentation Ensure underwriting related decisions comply with established guidelines, program standards, and appetite Contribute to the development, documentation, and implementation of underwriting systems, processes, and procedures Directly responsible for implementing a people strategy that supports training and skills improvement initiatives that achieve increased bench strength and improved career pathing Communicate effectively with producers to foster strong partnerships and promote the program Monitor team workload, productivity, and underwriting quality to ensure performance expectations are met Experience Min. 10+ years of commercial property or underwriting experience, with demonstrated leadership or senior underwriting responsibility Min. 3+ years of leadership experience within an insurance underwriting technical operation or senior level brokerage #J-18808-Ljbffr Welling Young, LLC
