Job Title: Certified Nurse Assistant

Experience: One (1) year in Long-Term Care or CNA capacity required
License: NYS Nursing Assistant Certification required
Certifications: BLS (through AHA or RQI) required
Must-Have: Must have one (1) year of previous Long-Term Care experience and be licensed for one year.
Description:
Under the direction of licensed nursing personnel, performs direct and indirect designated resident care within the scope of practice.
The Certified Nurse Assistant must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served.
The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development across the lifespan.
Possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed for each patient's requirements.
Providing care needed by the adult and geriatric patient group is essential.
Resident's Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) needs are met as outlined in the plan of care and in accordance with policies and procedures.
This includes hygiene, grooming, dressing, incontinence and catheter care, elimination and toileting needs, turning and positioning, skin care, etc.
Documentation is completed per protocol.
Maintaining the resident's environment and safety is crucial as outlined in the plan of care and in accordance with policies and procedures.
This includes answering call lights and alarms promptly, provision of safety mats and low beds, and maintaining cleanliness of the unit.
Behavior and fall prevention, along with the appropriate use and monitoring of malfunctioning equipment, must be adhered to.
Documentation is completed per protocol.
Meeting the resident's nutritional needs is part of the responsibilities as outlined in the plan of care and in accordance with policies and procedures.
This includes meal delivery, tray preparation, adaptive equipment, and feeding.
The preferences and choices of the resident shall be honored.
Documentation is completed per protocol.
Addressing the resident's rehabilitative needs is critical.
This includes meeting restorative and maintenance needs as outlined in the plan of care.
Documentation must be completed per protocol and involves range of motion, ambulation, transfers, proper body alignment, and use of assistive devices.
Resident's rights, refusals, and concerns must be reported to the Charge Nurse or Supervising Nurse in a timely manner.
Changes in resident physical, emotional, and psychosocial status are to be identified and reported promptly.
Occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens is reasonably anticipated, and required tasks involve potential contact with blood, body fluids, or tissues.
