• Position Type: Contract
• Contract Duration: 3 months
• Pay Rate: $77.00 / Hour (USD)
• Shift / Schedule: Rotating shifts — 3 × 8-hour shifts and 1 × 12-hour shift per week (36 hrs/week total). Shift times range between: 11:00 PM–7:00 AM (8 hrs), 3:00 PM–11:00 PM (8 hrs), and 7:00 PM–7:00 AM (12 hrs). Weekend coverage every other weekend. Orientation is held during the day the first week.

Job Summary

The RN House Supervisor serves as a resource for problem solving, providing clinical expertise, facilitates staff mentoring and coaching, and facilitates patient flow during the off shifts (typically evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays) for the entire 180-bed facility. The facility consists of 5 units that care for residents with diagnoses of dementia, DM, CVA, cardiac, orthopedic tx, and more. Average daily census is 180.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as a resource for problem solving and clinical expertise across all units during off-shift hours (evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays)
• Facilitate staff mentoring and coaching to performance standards
• Facilitate patient flow for the entire 180-bed facility across 5 units
• Supervise nursing care delivered on all units organizationally
• Provide centralized staffing and manage staffing requirements
• Apply knowledge of productivity standards and staffing requirements
• Manage Code situations and emergency preparedness
• Apply de-escalation techniques and manage assaultive behavior
• Oversee new admissions processes
• Perform documentation and process management related to death of a patient
• Conduct incident reporting and sentinel event monitoring and reporting
• Enforce HIPAA guidelines and risk management practices
• Ensure compliance with infection control and isolation procedures
• Apply knowledge of regulatory requirements — DPH, TJC, OSHA, etc.
• Follow organizational escalation processes for the facility
• Enforce workplace safety standards
• Start and maintain IVs; manage PICC line care
• Conduct fitness-for-duty assessments
• Apply Federal and State scope of practice labor laws, including FMLA
• Provide customer service and oversight in line with organizational standards

Unit-Specific Details:

• Moore Place — Neurobehavioral unit with residents diagnosed with dementia or Alzheimer's with violent behaviors
• Bilz Unit — Rehab unit with residents s/p orthopedic surgery, cardiac procedures, etc., that rehab to go home
• Vantassel Unit — Secure dementia unit for residents at risk for elopement
• Schulz Unit — Residents who are long-term care
• Wolf Unit — Residents who are long-term care

Education Requirements

• RN License — New York State (NY is not a Compact state; NY RN license is non-negotiable)
• BLS certification required
• Previous charge experience required

Work Environment / Physical Requirements

• 180-bed skilled nursing facility with 5 specialized units
• Shift work covering evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays
• Weekend coverage required every other weekend
• Special equipment in use includes: wound vacs, PICC lines, nephrostomy tubes, tube feeds, indwelling catheters, colostomies, etc.
• Patient population includes residents with diagnoses of dementia, DM, CVA, cardiac conditions, orthopedic post-surgical recovery, Alzheimer's with violent behaviors, and long-term care needs
• Scrub color: Any

• First-time travelers are accepted
