- In a student employee capacity, may assist in working with external community service partners.
Job Description: Position Summary - Assists and supports the Chief Village Officer in operating the small, private convenience store on Creekside Community Village campus. Must be eligible for Federal Work-Study. This is off-campus employment, so reliable transportation is important.
Functions of the Position Operate a point-of-sale system checking out neighbors who shop in the private convenience store located on Creekside's campus. Assist with stocking and cleaning/organizing as needed.
Required Hard Skills - Proficiency in technical and computer skills (Word, excel, phone and email). Reliable form of transportation and license. Some familiarity with point-of-sale systems preferred or willingness to learn. Time management and prioritization ability.
Required Soft Skills: Intentionality, personable, adaptable, motivated and eager to learn, mature and communicable Christian Faith and spiritual life. Willingness to work alongside formerly homeless men and women.
Learning Outcomes - Familiarity with Mission Waco and Creekside Community Village. Experience operating a small retail store, administrative proficiency, creative problem solving and flexible thinking/planning skills, facility management skills, and experiential knowledge of the importance and impact of community service and poverty alleviation.
