CNC Machinist V - 2nd Shift

Job overview: Operates and monitors computer numeric-controlled machines to make tools and parts, performs maintenance on the machines to achieve the production targets. This is a 2nd shift opening and the 2nd shift schedule is Monday through Friday, 3:30pm to 11:00pm.

Primary equipment: Experience operating CNC lathes with live tooling.

Core Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC lathes with live tooling (Y-axis, sub-spindle, C-axis as applicable)
• Load and verify CNC programs, make offsets, and adjust tooling as needed
• Perform turning, drilling, milling, tapping, and boring operations on the lathe
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and work instructions
• Select, install, and change cutting tools and holders
• Inspect parts using calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and other inspection tools
• Perform first-article and in-process inspections
• Troubleshoot machining, tooling, and quality issues
• Work with engineering, programming, and quality teams to resolve issues
• Maintain a clean and safe work area and follow all safety procedures
• Complete production and quality documentation accurately.

Measurement & Quality

Micrometers, bore gages, indicators, height gages, CMM hand tools; ability to hold 0.001"and tighter.

Performance Expectations

High first-pass yield- Stable cycle times with minimal unplanned downtime- Zero safety violations- Clean shift handoffs and accurate documentation.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience machining stainless steels, duplex, or nickel alloys 3+ years of experience operating CNC lathes with live tooling Strong understanding of turning and basic milling principles Experience with Fanuc, Mazak, Okuma, Haas, or similar controls Ability to perform machine setups independently Knowledge of cutting tools, feeds, speeds, and materials (steel, aluminum, stainless, Inconel preferred) Background in regulated or high-reliability industries (oil & gas, subsea, aerospace, defense) Team player and positive, cooperative attitude Solution oriented and ability to respectfully communicate with colleagues

Requirements

High school diploma or GED required. Must be eligible to work under ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations) compliance. Experience with multi-axis lathes (Y-axis, sub-spindle) Basic CNC program editing at the machine Experience in high-mix / low-volume or production environments Familiarity with ESPRIT or similar CAM software Read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T Tooling and insert selection awareness Tool life and wear management Mechanical aptitude and disciplined process execution

Compensation: Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $78,200 117,300 (subject to change dependent on physical location) A comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, 401(k), disability, life insurance, employee stock purchase plan, paid time off and voluntary benefits.
