About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: PCU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 1.5 years of experience in stepdown or progressive care unit required. License: Active state RN license or compact license accepted. Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS required. Must-Have: Experience with a 1:5 patient ratio in stepdown or progressive care unit. Ventilator management experience is necessary. Pass an online EKG tele competency assessment before starting the assignment. EPIC experience is required. Description: This position involves caring for patients in a stepdown or progressive care unit. The targeted patient ratios are 1:4-6. The unit may participate in a team nursing model. Registered Nurses will work collaboratively with LPNs and PCTs to care for a group of patients. The goal of the team nursing model is to improve workload and patient care. Nurses may function in either team nursing or primary nursing based on unit needs. Floating to other units may be required based on the patient care team assignment. The nurse will care for a diverse patient population, including those with cerebrovascular conditions and high-risk respiratory needs. The nurse may be responsible for initiating and managing various patient treatments, including advanced respiratory support. This role requires knowledge of cardiac telemetry and monitoring. The ability to interpret dysrhythmias and arterial blood gases is essential. The nurse must adhere to isolation precautions and PPE requirements. Care of ventilated patients and management of central lines and PICC lines is expected. Wound care and management of surgical drains may also be part of the responsibilities. Candidates must be comfortable floating to different units as patient care requires. Travelers must be available to work every other weekend and holiday. Approval for time off requests will be at management's discretion. All candidates must ensure they meet the necessary qualifications and experience as outlined in the requirements.
