Job Description

The Utility Laborer plays a key role in the extrusion department, supporting safe and efficient handling of aluminum products after extrusion. This position works closely with the Extrusion Supervisor to tend production lines, rack and pack finished product, and move materials using a sit-down forklift as needed. The role is physically demanding and ideal for someone with a manufacturing or production experience who is comfortable with heavy labor and working in an active plant environment.

SHIFT: 6PM to 6am - (4 days on, 4 days off)

Responsibilities

• Support the extrusion department by safely handling aluminum products immediately following extrusion.

• Tend production lines to ensure continuous, efficient operation and proper product flow.

• Rack and pack finished aluminum products according to established procedures and quality standards.

• Operate a sit-down forklift to move bins and materials throughout the plant when needed.

• Use a tape measure to accurately verify product dimensions and ensure compliance with specifications.

• Perform general labor tasks in a manufacturing setting, including lifting, moving, and organizing materials.

• Utilize hand tools and packing materials to prepare products for storage or shipment.

• Follow all safety protocols and wear required personal protective equipment while in the plant.

• Work collaboratively with the extrusion team and supervisor to support production goals and maintain a safe work area.

• Adapt to changing production needs, including working overtime when offered to support 24/7 coverage.

Essential Skills

• Previous experience in a manufacturing or production environment.

• Laborer experience with comfort performing physically demanding, heavy labor tasks.

• Ability to accurately read and use a tape measure for product measurement.

• Sit-down forklift experience and ability to safely operate a forklift in a plant environment.

• Capability to work safely in an industrial setting with high noise levels and varying temperatures.

• Reliability and willingness to work overtime when offered.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with general labor tasks in a production or plant setting.

• Familiarity with hand tools used in packing and material handling.

• Attention to detail when racking, packing, and measuring products.

• Strong focus on safety and adherence to plant safety procedures.

• Interest in developing skills to advance into higher-level operator roles over time.

Work Environment

This position is primarily on 3rd. shift in a manufacturing plant that operates with extended coverage toward 24/7 production. Overtime is frequently offered, giving employees the option to pick up additional days and increase their hours. Work is performed both indoors and on the plant floor in an unregulated environment that can experience extreme temperatures, high noise levels, and other uncontrollable factors typical of industrial settings. The dress code requires steel-toe boots and long pants, and employees must wear a hard hat, safety glasses, and ear plugs when in the plant. The environment is fast-paced, safety-focused, and suited to individuals comfortable with physical work and industrial conditions.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Pennsauken, NJ.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $22.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
