Registered Nurse (RN) | Behavioral Health Float Pool

Location: Avera Behavioral Health Center – Sioux Falls Worker Type: Regular Work Shift: Rotating days/evenings/nights/weekends/holidays (United States of America) Pay Range: $32.50 - $48.50 per hour, based on experience. Position Highlights Floats to all Behavioral Health inpatient units, The Link, BHS Urgent Care, and Behavioral Health Adolescent Addiction Unit. May be eligible for a sign‑on bonus up to $15,000. Opportunity to experience a variety of inpatient settings. Work with staff from many areas. Average 1 RN for 7‑8 patient ratio. 100% self‑schedule. Student Loan Repayment Program: each month an extra payment of $167 (up to $10,000) from Avera to help pay down your principal balance faster. Varied shifts: 72 hours per 2 weeks; every 3rd weekend and every 3rd holiday rotation. Job Overview Delivers nursing care by developing a nursing diagnosis; establishing nursing care objectives; defining nursing interventions; providing physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients, families, and friends; noting changing conditions and needs; re‑evaluating care objectives. What You Will Do Provide patient care by reviewing physician prescriptions and communicating the nursing care plan to the healthcare team. Coordinate with other healthcare providers and provide physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients, families, and friends. Develop nursing care plans through medical history, physical exam, documentation, and collaboration with family and physicians; establish nursing diagnosis, objectives, and interventions. Teach patients, families, and friends about their condition, medications, and self‑care skills; answer questions and provide resources. Evaluate patient care against therapeutic standards, measure outcomes, review records, and modify the plan as needed. Maintain a safe and secure environment by following infection‑control policies, medication policies, and controlled‑substance regulations; alert others to potential concerns. Document patient care services in charting systems. Keep patient care equipment functioning by following procedures, troubleshooting, and arranging repairs. Maintain patient supplies by checking stock, anticipating needs, ordering, and stocking items. Maintain competence in nursing capabilities as outlined by leadership. Required Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience Registered Nurse (RN) – Board of Nursing. Active license in the state of practice upon hire. Preferred Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience 1‑3 years of experience working in a clinical environment.
