On-Call Field Archaeologist - Oregon

Overview ICF’s Environment & Planning Division is hiring On Call Archaeologists who are based in Oregon (statewide). We are planners, scientists, program managers, communicators, economists, technologists, and strategists who value collaboration, curiosity, and excellence. The On-Call Archaeologist will assist senior archaeologists primarily in fieldwork, with tasks including survey, testing, evaluation, data recovery, and construction monitoring. Other duties may include laboratory analysis, background research, assistance with report preparation, and other tasks as assigned. This position requires excellent field skills, the ability to identify precontract and historic-period artifacts, and taking detailed field notes. Travel for up to eight days may be involved; much of the work is local and not require overnight travel. Work will occur outdoors under all weather conditions and may require hiking 5 to 10 miles per day, shovel testing, and long periods of standing. Milage pay at the current GSA rate is provided when personal vehicles are used. All travel time will be paid at the hourly rate. On-Call Employment at ICF Given the seasonal or project-specific nature of our environmental work, ICF hires environmental professionals as “On-Call” employees. On-Call employees are scheduled for work hours as they become available (typically scheduled a few weeks ahead, but last-minute scheduling may occur) and may accept or refuse assigned hours. On-Call employees may work on concurrent projects outside of their ICF assignment, as long as outside work does not create a conflict of interest with ICF work. Compensation details include an hourly pay range: On-Call Archaeologist $25-30/hour; On-Call Archaeologist (Crew Lead) $30-35/hour. What You Must Have Bachelor’s degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, or related field. 2+ years of field experience in archaeological monitoring and survey. Valid driver’s license and a clean Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check. What We Would Like You To Have Field experience with the ability to conduct field visits in the Pacific Northwest. Ability to communicate and coordinate effectively with ICF senior staff and construction personnel. Knowledge and familiarity with computers and smart devices.
