Cardone Ventures partners with business owners to help them achieve their personal, professional, and financial goals by scaling their companies. We are launching a new Tax Services division to deliver world-class tax strategy, compliance, and advisory services directly to our client base, including entrepreneurs and small-to-mid-market business owners who are building generational wealth and need expert guidance to keep more of what they earn.
Position Summary
We are seeking a visionary and execution-oriented VP of Tax Services to build and lead our new tax practice from the ground up. This is a rare opportunity to architect a high-impact service line within a fast-growing company, serving a motivated client base that is actively scaling their businesses. You will be responsible for defining our tax service offerings, building the team, establishing client relationships, and delivering measurable outcomes for our clients.
What Success Looks Like
- Within the first year, the Tax Services practice is operational with a defined service model, a growing client roster, and a team in place delivering consistent, high-quality compliance and advisory work
- Clients are actively reducing tax liability and making more informed financial decisions because of the strategic guidance coming out of this practice, resulting in strong retention and referral growth
- The team operates with a culture of accountability and excellence, tax professionals are growing in their careers, and the practice is positioned for continued expansion into new service lines and client segments
Objectives
Practice Leadership & Strategy
- Design, launch, and scale Cardone Ventures' Tax Services practice, establishing our service model, pricing, delivery processes, and quality standards
- Develop a multi-year roadmap for the practice, including revenue targets, staffing plans, and service line expansion
- Serve as the internal subject matter expert and thought leader on all matters related to business and individual taxation
- Collaborate with Cardone Ventures leadership to align tax services with the company's broader offerings and client success mission
Client Services & Advisory
- Lead tax strategy and planning engagements for small business and mid-market clients, identifying opportunities to reduce tax liability and optimize entity structure
- Oversee delivery of tax compliance services including business and individual returns, quarterly estimates, and all required filings
- Provide transactional tax consulting and advisory support for clients navigating M&A, business acquisitions, partnership structures, and growth events
- Build trusted, long-term relationships with clients, serving as a key advisor in their financial decision-making
Team Building & Management
- Recruit, develop, and retain a high-performing team of tax professionals, including CPAs, tax managers, and client service staff
- Establish training programs, technical standards, and career development pathways for the team
- Foster a culture of excellence, accountability, and client-first service delivery
Operations & Compliance
- Implement systems, workflows, and technology to deliver tax services efficiently and at scale
- Ensure the practice maintains full regulatory compliance and meets all professional and ethical standards
- Monitor industry developments, tax law changes, and IRS guidance to keep clients and the team ahead of the curve
Competencies
- Ability to set vision, build from scratch, and drive a practice toward measurable outcomes without needing a roadmap handed to you
- Deep, current knowledge of business and individual tax law, entity structuring, pass-through taxation, and transactional advisory
- Skilled at building trusted, long-term advisory relationships with business owners and translating complex tax concepts into clear, actionable guidance
- Ability to build and scale systems, workflows, and technology infrastructure that support efficient, compliant service delivery
- Ability to leverage an existing client base and network to grow the practice, identify upsell opportunities, and position tax services as a strategic differentiator
- Comfortable working alongside leadership, legal, finance, and client success teams to deliver integrated, cohesive client outcomes
- Takes full ownership of results, sets clear expectations for the team, and operates with a high degree of integrity and professional standards
- Leverages or is willing to develop proficiency in AI tools to enhance tax research, streamline compliance workflows, and drive operational efficiency across the team
- Ability to engage confidently at the executive level, present complex tax strategy clearly, and represent the practice internally and externally
Education and Experience
Required
- CPA license, required; advanced degree in Taxation (MST or JD/LLM) strongly preferred
- 10+ years of progressive experience in public accounting or tax advisory, with a minimum of 5 years in a leadership role
- Deep expertise across business tax compliance, tax planning, and tax consulting — including entity structuring, pass-through taxation, and transactional advisory
- Proven track record of building or significantly growing a tax practice or service line
- Strong experience serving small business and mid-market clients ($1M–$100M in revenue)
- Demonstrated ability to lead, inspire, and develop high-performing teams
- Exceptional client communication and relationship-building skills — you can make complex tax concepts clear and actionable
Preferred
- Experience in a high-growth, entrepreneurial environment
- Familiarity with the challenges and opportunities specific to founder-led businesses
- Experience with tax technology platforms and modern practice management tools
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- This position will require travel — up to 15%
