Registered Respiratory Therapist

The Registered Respiratory Therapist provides and administers all aspects of Respiratory Care Therapy and supportive equipment as outlined in the Department Policy and Procedure Manual. This role includes providing respiratory therapy under medical direction, focusing on the education, treatment, management, and diagnostic evaluation and care of patients with deficiencies in the cardiopulmonary system. Responsibilities include performing intubation assistance and ventilator setup and management. The therapist will gather necessary information to evaluate patient needs, including disease education and consultations with other healthcare professionals. Developing rapport and mutual respect with patients, caregivers, and team members is essential to foster an optimal environment in support of goal achievement. Education to patients and caregivers will be provided and documented based on identified needs in an understandable manner. Other duties and projects may be assigned as needed. The therapist will adhere to organizational competencies and standards of behavior. Physical requirements include lifting a minimum of 5 lbs., pushing and pulling a minimum of 5 lbs., and standing for a minimum of 1 hour a day. Regular contact with medical personnel and visitors is expected.
