Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Digital Accessibility Tester to join the Connecticut Department of Administrative Services (CT DAS). This is a testing-focused role , where manual accessibility testing of digital products and assets is the primary responsibility. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in WCAG compliance, Section 508 standards, assistive technologies, and accessibility testing methodologies to ensure digital products are inclusive and compliant. Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Web Development, Human Computer Interaction, Library & Information Science, or a related field.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience in Digital Accessibility Testing .
- 2+ years of experience working on digital product teams in accessibility, QA, or related roles.
- Strong expertise in manual accessibility testing using assistive technologies including:
- NVDA
- JAWS
- Dragon NaturallySpeaking
- Fusion
- ZoomText
- VoiceOver
- TalkBack
- Deque
- WAVE
- Experience using built-in accessibility features such as:
- Speech-to-Text
- Text-to-Speech
- Screen Magnifiers
- On-Screen Keyboards
- Eye Gaze Technology
- Alternative Input Devices
- Strong knowledge of:
- WCAG 2.1/2.2 Guidelines
- Section 508 Compliance
- HTML5
- ARIA
- Semantic HTML
- Experience identifying accessibility issues and providing remediation guidance.
- Strong understanding of User-Centered Design (UCD) principles.
- Experience testing responsive web applications across multiple devices.
- Strong documentation, reporting, and communication skills.
- Ability to explain accessibility issues to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience mentoring or coaching QA teams on accessibility best practices.
- Experience with:

- Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
- Experience with Jira and Confluence.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Experience balancing multiple accessibility projects simultaneously.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Teams, Outlook, and Zoom.
- Accessibility testing for:
- Chatbots
- Customer communication tools
- Digital forms and document remediation
- Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, PDFs, and print marketing assets
- Experience with:
- Sitecore
- Salesforce
- Adobe XD
- SQL
- CSS
- JavaScript
- jQuery
- Experience using testing analytics and data visualization tools.
- IAAP (CPACC, WAS, or equivalent)
- Client Trusted Tester Certification
- Section 508 Certification
- Deque University Certification
- PMP Certification
- Perform manual accessibility testing of web applications, digital assets, and documents.
- Validate compliance with WCAG and Section 508 standards.
- Conduct accessibility audits using assistive technologies and testing tools.
- Identify accessibility defects and provide remediation recommendations.
- Collaborate with developers, designers, business analysts, and product owners.
- Create accessibility reports and maintain testing documentation.
- Promote accessibility best practices across project teams.
- Support continuous improvement of accessibility standards and testing methodologies.
