Pipeline Acceleration Senior Director - 12 months Fixed Term Contract (FTC) The Pipeline Acceleration Senior Director Respiratory / Hepatology] role is a 1-year Fixed Term Contract (FTC) opportunity for an experienced, innovative, and proactive medical affairs professional to lead the strategic execution of our pipeline, focused on clinical trial acceleration across the Specialty Care portfolio globally. Within GSK, you will be accountable for shaping and driving the medical affairs strategy that underpins the company's clinical trial acceleration agenda across Specialty Care pipeline assets. This role exists to translate R&D ambition into field-ready medical engagement, enabling stronger scientific engagement with investigators and key opinion leaders, physician engagement in clinical trials, and patient activation strategies that accelerate enrolment through others. These responsibilities include some of the following: Serve as a key medical business leader for clinical trial acceleration across the Specialty Care portfolio during the 1-year secondment, accountable to the VP, GMA, Specialty Care. Set up and maintain the overarching operating model, strategy and operations for how Medical Affairs supports clinical trial acceleration across MSL field engagement, investigator outreach, patient activation and scientific communications. Ensure external-facing communications, where applicable, and internal narrative are consistent, scientifically robust and aligned across disease areas and assets. Establish relevant tracking mechanisms and KPI frameworks to demonstrate the critical contribution MSLs make in accelerating clinical trials. Provide strategic oversight for pipeline patient activation work, ensuring patient and physician engagement strategies are coherent with site engagement priorities and aligned with regulatory and compliance standards. Identify and anticipate risks to enrolment or site engagement within the Medical Affairs remit and proactively develop mitigation strategies in partnership with cross-functional stakeholders. Partner with R&D and Development Operations to ensure delivery of the trial acceleration strategy, owning the Medical Affairs strategy for this work. Represent the Chief Patient organisation as a medical business leader across the trial acceleration programme for Specialty Care/RIIRU, working closely with Development Operations, Clinical Development, relevant R&D functions and medical asset teams to ensure alignment and avoid duplication. Co-develop and maintain a unified site and PI engagement operating model that Medical Affairs and Development Operations can execute coherently at country level, ensuring MSLs and site engagement leads work in a complementary and coordinated way. Represent Medical Affairs in cross-functional enrolment and site performance reviews, contributing medical insight to site selection, PI engagement prioritisation and rescue strategies for under-enrolling sites. Engage proactively with Clinical Development to stay ahead of pipeline asset evolution, ensuring scientific messaging and engagement strategies for Trial Acceleration MSLs are current, accurate and appropriately differentiated by asset and indication. Think globally while deeply understanding priority LOC needs and success measures through extensive partnership and collaboration with key LOC teams to understand landscape, unmet medical needs and timelines for deliverables required for their success. Take the initiative to identify opportunities for innovation and improvement within global medical affairs strategy and execution, inspiring collaboration across the matrix organisation without direct line management. Lead cross-functional initiatives that drive strategic priorities, ensuring alignment and execution across global and local teams while providing thought leadership to anticipate future challenges and opportunities. Basic Qualifications Science degree. Considerable experience in Medical Affairs and supporting pre-launch phases of assets. Experience working on pipeline assets and in clinical development support, with a strong understanding of how Medical Affairs contributes to and enables clinical trial execution. Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills in English. Ability to prioritise and manage multiple projects, budgets and interactions simultaneously. High level of personal accountability and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, innovative environment while remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful and efficient. Outstanding listening, communication, collaborative team working and leadership skills, as the role involves interface with a wide range of stakeholders. Experience operating across multiple geographies and managing global strategies that are implemented through country-level teams. Evidence of alignment to GSK Values. Preferred Qualifications Field medical experience. Advanced degree (MD/MBBS/PharmD or PhD) in a relevant clinical or scientific discipline, such as medicine, pharmacology, immunology, hepatology, pulmonology or a related field. Clinical or industry experience in Respiratory, such as COPD or asthma, and/or Hepatology, especially Steatotic Liver Disease. Demonstrated matrix leadership in previous roles with ability to build strong networks, manage complexity and cultural diversity. Experience in formal trial acceleration programmes or site engagement initiatives that span Medical Affairs and Clinical Operations. Cross-functional team leadership and coordination, especially with an international team. Robust understanding of internal and external codes of practice and regulations, including certification where applicable. Evidence of innovative digital and AI leadership within prior medical roles.
