The role focuses on ensuring timely settlement, minimizing fails, managing inventory and funding impacts.Key ResponsibilitiesSettlement Execution (Fixed Income Focus)Manage daily DTC settlement of fixed income securities including:DVP/RVP, free of payment, and institutional deliveriesREPO, Reverse REPOStock Loan - LoanetEnsure timely settlement in a T+1 environment while meeting all market cut-offsMonitor and manage DTC settlement queues using Settlement Web / PTSEscalate high-risk exposures and aged fail itemsDrive resolution with counterparties, custodians, and internal trading desksPartner with funding/treasury teams to ensure sufficient liquidityReconciliation & ControlsPerform daily reconciliation of:DTC positions vs. internal ledgersCash balances and settlement activityIdentify and resolve breaks with a strong control mindsetEnsure adherence to operational risk and control frameworksStakeholder ManagementAct as key liaison between:Fixed Income Trading DesksMiddle Office / ConfirmationsFunding & Treasury teamsExternal counterparties and custodiansProvide clear, timely updates on settlement risks and issuesRegulatory & Risk ComplianceEnsure compliance with SEC, FINRA, and internal policiesSupport audits, inquiries, and control reviewsProcess Improvement & Change InitiativesIdentify opportunities to automate manual processes and improve STP ratesParticipate in system upgrades, testing, and platform migrationsDrive operational scalability and risk reduction initiativesQualifications & ExperienceExperience5+ years of experience in fixed income securities operationsStrong hands-on expertise with DTC settlement workflowsExposure to repo, Stock Loan and DTC Settlement is requiredSystems & ToolsDTC platforms (Settlement Web, PTS/PBS)Settlement systems (e.g., Broadridge)Stock Loan system (Loanet)Skills & CompetenciesStrong analytical and problem-solving capabilitiesHigh attention to detail with a risk & control mindsetAbility to perform in a high-volume, time-sensitive environmentEffective communication with trading desks and senior stakeholdersKey Performance Indicators (KPIs)Timely resolution of exceptions and reconciliation breaksAccuracy of DTC positions and cash balancesImproved settlement efficiency and STP ratesStrong audit and control outcomesPreferred QualificationsBachelor's degree in finance, Business, or related fieldExperience at a broker-dealer or primary dealer environmentThe Operations Analyst/Specialist I TDS provides back up for the Canadian Fixed Income Desk. This individual will handle corporate actions, daily cash reconciliation, tracking file uploads into FIST, and be a DTC clearance specialist. Responsibilities include the clearance of London trading activity passing through US broker/dealers. Activities include advising agent of ticket control numbers for confirmations and by performing required system maintenance.
