Senior Accountant

This is a senior individual contributor role reporting to the Accounting Director / Head of Accounting. The role independently handles assigned accounting responsibilities and may provide operational guidance, review support, cross-training, and knowledge sharing to team members. The position can be filled for either our New York or Texas office.

Key Responsibilities

• Independently manage and support corporate accounting operations.
• Perform month-end and year-end financial close activities.
• Manage Accounts Payable (A/P) and Accounts Receivable (A/R) processes. 
• Process and support payroll activities. Handle employee benefits accounting. 
• Ensure tax compliance and statutory reporting. 
• Manage cash flow and treasury/cash management activities. 
• Support internal and external audits. 
• Prepare management reports and reporting for Japan headquarters. 
• Strengthen internal controls and ensure compliance. 
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance operational efficiency.

Skills & Qualifications

• Associate degree in accounting, finance, or a similar field, or equivalent combination of education and experience; accounting major preferred. 
• Possess strong professional accounting knowledge and expertise. 
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and professional judgment to interpret financial information to make sound recommendations. 
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in financial reporting, with ability to identify financial discrepancies and recommend corrective actions. 
• Strong understanding of internal controls and a proactive approach risk mitigation and process improvement. A high level of integrity and discretion when handling confidential information. 
• A strong sense of ownership, accountability, and follow-through. 
• Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work across departments and support business stakeholders. 
• Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications. 
• Proficient English communication skills, both written and verbal, are required. Proficient Japanese communication skills, both written and verbal, are required to support reporting to Japan management and communication with Japan-based stakeholders.

Experience

• Bring 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience. 
• Hands-on experience with month-end financial close processes. 
• Skilled in accounting reconciliations and financial reporting. 
• Experienced with SAP or other major ERP/accounting systems.

Certifications

• CPA (preferred)

In Our Offices

Our core business hours are 9 - 5:30 with one hour unpaid lunch in between. Actual working hours may be slightly different, depending business needs. This and all SCSK USA positions require in-person office attendance 2 days per week.
