Technician

The Site Technician is responsible for providing technical support at the customer sites by conducting performance evaluations of materials and mechanical processes including testing, analytical evaluation, problem solving, product recommendations, and process improvement. Responsibilities/Duties: Provides technical support including preventive maintenance, problem identification and resolution, and maximization of material use with proper inventory management. Interfaces with internal customers, working on-site to create process efficiencies Identifies cost-saving opportunities and sets goals for achievement Performs analytical testing on materials Makes recommendations regarding material usage, concentrations, recycling, product substitutions/selection etc. Evaluates mechanical processes in relation to utilization of materials Understands customers’ material use in manufacturing processes and provides appropriate recommendations for coolants, lubricants, cleaners, and other applicable materials Researches product information from suppliers, manufacturers, Internet, and reference sources Works with EHS Departments to ensure compliance with all regulatory and environmental standards Makes presentations to internal/external management and personnel, communicating test findings and offering appropriate recommendations on processes Performs other duties and assignments as required Ensures all new submissions for products are entered into the system for corporate and plant approval Interacts with people performing approval submissions to ensure all documents meet OSHA, corporate, and plant guidelines Maintains plant internal listing of approved products Ensures all new information is released that all affected products are noted, and the information is provided to the appropriate personnel Manages many searches for various plant personnel in the database Helps to insure the local SDS approval committee meets and communicates regularly Performs other duties and special projects as required. Assists/ oversees deliveries completed onsite. Knowledge, skills and abilities: Works effectively with all levels of internal/external management, personnel, customers, and suppliers Possesses strong communications and presentation skills Demonstrates ability to utilize technology for communication of analyses, results, and problem solving Achieves goals and objectives as determined by management Works independently; self-motivated and self-directed Demonstrates resourcefulness in obtaining product information from suppliers and manufactures to achieve goals Works effectively as contributing team member Successfully manages and prioritizes multiple projects within fluctuating operational demands Demonstrates strong analytical and problem identification and resolution skills Accepts challenges, identifies needs and is willing to work on new projects Prolonged periods of standing and walking in large industrial environment Ability to maintain high level of visual attention and mental concentration for significant periods of time Prolonged periods of sitting and exposure to computer screens Ability to lift up to 50 pounds Bachelor’s degree in biology, chemistry, engineering or technical discipline and/or equivalent work experience in chemical/industrial environment preferred 1-3 years of technical experience in industrial manufacturing or technical environment preferred Computer proficient with the ability to use Microsoft Office Suite and the internet required Familiarity with software applications First point of contact for corporate related items regarding products and/or related items Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in engineering and/or Chemistry/Biology/Biochemistry and/or equivalent experience preferred. Recommended minimum of 2-4 years of previous experience in chemical management. Ability to handle multiple priorities and demands in a fast-paced environment. This job operates in a manufacturing environment. This role requires presence on the manufacturing floor and a significant amount of walking on concrete surfaces. This role also routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers and filing cabinets. Ability to work in team fostered environment. Ability to work in multi-tasked environment. Strong personality and focus in fast-paced and demanding environments. Ability to adapt to change quickly and multi-task.
