Interprets data to determine preliminary diagnosis and treatment plan for patients. Administers injections. Orders appropriate laboratory and diagnostic studies. Prepares electronic or written prescriptions for medications, including controlled substances. Provides patient education. Appropriately determines level of service for clinical examinations and follow-ups. Triages patient telephone calls and provides telephone consultation. Performs suture removal and wound checks for surgical patients. Provides call coverage with supervising physician, including consecutive nights and weekends. Provides surgical first assistant services. Communicates professionally with patients, medical providers, co-workers and medical community partners. Manages time appropriately. Attends required meetings and participates in committees as requested. Participates in professional development courses and maintains professional certifications.
