Principal Data & Ontology Architect - AI

Salary: $80,000 - 120,000 per year Requirements:

• We require a bachelors degree or diploma in Computer Science, Data Science or Engineering, Applied Mathematics or Statistics, Electronics or Electrical, Information Technology or Information Sciences, or a related discipline.
• We require at least 10 years of combined experience, depending on education, in data architecture, data governance, ontology development, semantic modeling, or similar fields supporting cross-functional programs across multiple business units and IT organizations.
• We need deep expertise in ontology design, semantic modeling, and domain-driven data architecture.
• We look for experience developing and implementing data and ontology strategies.
• We require proven ability to act as a bridge between business stakeholders and IT teams.
• We need strong capability to translate technical platforms, workflows, and constraints into business-friendly guidance.
• We look for experience enabling and educating data stewards and establishing durable governance workflows.

• Preferred experience includes OWL, RDF/RDFS, graph databases such as Neo4j and Amazon Neptune, Palantir Ontology, and SPARQL for RDF-based ontologies.

• We support the implementation and ongoing adoption of data and ontology enablement practices and standards within Control Tower Operations.
• We act as the primary connection between Business Units, Global IT, and Control Tower Operations.
• We translate Global IT standards and operating models into repeatable guidance for Business Units and data stewards.
• We represent business domain needs back to IT to help shape platform and process improvements.
• We support enterprise ontology strategy, including semantic modeling, domain alignment, concept reuse, and lifecycle management.
• We serve as a subject-matter authority on ontology topics for governance and leadership forums.
• We collaborate with Global IT and enterprise data architecture to align ontology practices with enterprise platforms and Control Tower processes.
• We partner with Business Units to understand domain concepts, terminology, operational data, and AI use cases, then translate them into ontology-aligned data structures.
• We guide Business Units in contributing domain models, metadata, and data assets into the enterprise ontology through defined governance and intake processes.
• We enable repeatable onboarding of Business Unit data into AI initiatives and reduce ad hoc IT involvement.
• We provide input on prioritizing ontology enhancements based on business goals, AI roadmap needs, and enterprise value.
• We liaise between Business Units and Global IT on AI data and ontology matters.
• We educate and support Business Unit data stewards on governance, ontology contribution, and AI data enablement.
• We help document workflows, expectations, and operating models for engagement with the Control Tower and Global IT.
• We ensure Business Unit Data Stewards know how to prepare, govern, and submit data assets for ontology integration and AI use.
• We promote consistent adoption of governance, quality, and semantic standards across Business Units.
• We support the integration of data and ontology enablement into Control Tower workflows.
• We provide operational insight into data readiness, semantic risks, and governance gaps to support Control Tower decisions.
• We identify systemic issues and recommend continuous improvements to data enablement processes.
• We help teams improve understanding and use of data in AI processes.
• We ensure semantic integrity, data quality, lineage, and consistency as data assets flow into AI solutions.
• We influence corrective actions, tooling investments, and governance updates to reduce long-term risk.
