Payroll Support Specialist

Payroll Specialist We are seeking a skilled Payroll Specialist with a strong focus on California Payroll Compliance. The ideal candidate will manage non-exempt payroll, enforce accountability with supervisors and managers, and assess risk. Our client uses Rippling for payroll software but is flexible with other systems. The specialist will own the payroll process, monitor meal and rest breaks, ensure compliance with final pay requirements, and prevent payroll penalties. Responsibilities Ensure compliance with California payroll laws and non-exempt payroll regulations. Enforce accountability with supervisors and managers. Assess and manage payroll-related risks. Own and manage the payroll process, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. Monitor meal and rest breaks and final pay requirements to prevent payroll penalties. Protect the company by ensuring employees are paid correctly. Essential Skills Expertise in California payroll compliance and wage-and-hour laws. Experience with non-exempt payroll management. Strong skills in payroll risk management. Ability to enforce manager accountability. Proficiency in using payroll software, ideally Rippling, but flexibility with other systems is acceptable. Additional Skills & Qualifications Previous experience in HR support is advantageous. Capability to handle payroll duties 75% of the time and HR responsibilities 25% of the time initially. Potential to grow into a senior payroll leadership position. Work Environment The role involves working primarily in an office setting with a flexible location in Redondo Beach.
