MAINTENANCE MECHANIC

Department of Health and Human Services – Facilities Maintenance & Office Services Maintenance Mechanic #45069 – Concord, NH The starting pay range for this position is $17.81/hour - $23.39/hour. Summary: Provide skilled and general maintenance, repair work, and facilities support to 35 DHHS managed facilities statewide. Reports to Assistant Administrator, Facilities Maintenance and Office Services. Minimum Qualifications Equivalent combination of 2 years of education and experience after high school. Valid driver’s license. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Must be able to use basic hand and power tools. Preferred Qualifications Completion of apprenticeship in a skilled trade or experience in general maintenance and repair work (carpentry, electricity, painting, plumbing, masonry, sheet metal, welding, auto repair or related trade). Experience in furniture installation, refurbishment, and reconfiguration. After‑Hire Requirements Must successfully complete a Defensive Driving course approved by the New Hampshire Safety Council within the first six months of employment. Responsibilities Participate in projects at the request of the Assistant Administrator or Director, including partial or full facility relocations. Provide labor and skill for furniture and office equipment installation, refurbishment, and reconfiguration, including office moves, furniture disassembly, relocation, and installation of existing furnishings. Perform technical skilled work in carpentry, electronics, or painting as required. Operate, maintain, and repair equipment such as power and hand tools. Install shelving units, bulletin boards, file cabinets, and other fixtures. Collaborate with Unit staff to support regulations and policies related to building and ADA code compliance, participate in ADA assessments and improvements, and provide periodic inspections. Coordinate with the Safety & Wellness Specialist for workstation modifications for approved ADA accommodations. Maintain warehouse storage, inventory, and supplies; receive, store, distribute, and deliver furniture and equipment to DHHS managed facilities. Report changes in warehouse inventory, including relocation, disposal, and surplus items. Coordinate with the Asset and Inventory Administrator for proper disposal of furniture and office equipment. Provide backup services to the Logistics team as needed.
