Operations Manager

Operations Manager As the Operations Manager, you will take over all aspects of a successful, profitable brokerage operation, create a vibrant and high-energy culture, and manage the brokerage budget while growing rapidly. You will take on an existing team of carrier sales and operations functions, establish SOPs to increase efficiency, implement technology to improve productivity and service, and cultivate business relationships with carriers and customers. Ultimately, the success of the operation starts and ends with you! This role requires an individual who has entrepreneurial aptitude, a strong management presence, and previous experience managing freight brokerage operations. Strategic Personnel – implement growth structure, improve productivity, cross train, develop team players, loyalty to business, compensation structure Risk Taking – Big thinker, find ways to grow fast, take balanced risk, develop partnerships, tight bond with sales team Culture – Live the company culture, promote culture throughout organization Implement organizational structure that promotes growth, excellent customer service, and employee satisfaction Carrier relationships – Develop company carrier relationships, strategic relationships for customers, lanes, equipment types Buy better – incentivize low cost buying, stronger negotiation to win new business and maintain/grow margins Service – Transparency, truth, problem solvers, customer partner, solutions with no excuses Automate – Tracking, carrier set up, Pricing tools, capacity tools, integrations (EDI/ERP) Collaboration with Sales – Must be able to build relationships with sales team and view as both teammates and internal customers Collaboration with Internal Customers – Must be able to view internal customers as “customers” and provide same/better service Scale – implement processes to scale quickly. Personnel hiring, outsourcing relief valves where necessary, recommend systems that can scale with high growth business Execution – Value difficult, complex unique solutions to customer problems to differentiate vs. “easy freight” with low margin and high competition Act as a player/coach Establish KPI's and operational processes Conduct regular team performance reviews and coach employees accordingly Collaborate with executive team Qualifications Successful track record of growing and leading freight brokerage operations Minimum of 5 years of experience in transportation brokerage and/or at a 3PL 3+ years of demonstrated success leading others Possess a strong carrier following Maintain a “customer-first” attitude Excellent written/verbal communication skills Deep knowledge of Truckload and Drayage freight Outstanding analytical ability Excellent negotiation skills Solid experience with TL pricing and RFP's Previous experience developing and implementing SOPs #J-18808-Ljbffr The Monson Group
