Assistant Controller

Multiple Office Locations | Hybrid Opportunity Legal / Professional Services Specialized Recruiting Group is conducting a confidential search for an experienced Assistant Controller on behalf of a highly respected national professional services organization. This is an outstanding opportunity for an accounting leader who enjoys balancing technical accounting responsibilities with team leadership, process improvement, and special projects. Reporting directly to the Controller, you'll play a key role in the firm's financial operations while mentoring a team of Staff Accountants and helping drive strategic initiatives. What You\'ll Do Supervise, mentor, and develop a team of four Staff Accountants Review and approve bank reconciliations, general ledger reconciliations, and financial reporting Assist with monthly and year-end close activities Prepare balance sheet schedules and support financial statement preparation Lead and coordinate annual financial statement audit deliverables Manage treasury functions, including wire transfers, escrow accounts, and banking relationships Oversee fixed asset, incentive compensation, and unclaimed property processes Support financial reporting, surveys, and regulatory reporting Lead accounting process improvements and system implementation projects Serve as Project Manager for accounting system enhancements, including Aderant initiatives Partner with leadership on special projects and operational improvements Qualifications Bachelor\'s degree in Accounting 7+ years of progressive accounting experience Prior supervisory or management experience Experience within a law firm or professional services environment strongly preferred Strong understanding of general ledger, reconciliations, financial reporting, audits, and cash management Experience with ERP/accounting systems; Aderant experience is a plus Excellent analytical, organizational, and leadership skills Why This Opportunity?
