About This Role

The Christian Preschool Lead Teacher for the one-year-old class is responsible for creating a nurturing and Christ-centered environment where young children can thrive spiritually, emotionally, and developmentally. This position involves overseeing the daily care, safety, and learning activities tailored to one-year-olds' developmental needs while integrating Biblical principles into all aspects of the curriculum. The Lead Teacher will report directly to the Director and work collaboratively with other staff members.

What You'll Do

• Classroom Leadership:
• Oversee the daily operations of the one-year-old classroom, ensuring a safe, clean, and age-appropriate environment.
• Plan, implement, and direct a developmentally appropriate and Biblically integrated curriculum for one-year-olds.
• Lead daily prayer, devotions, and activities that reflect Christian principles.
• Child Development:
• Provide a nurturing and stimulating program of play and learning opportunities appropriate for one-year-olds.
• Actively encourage children’s progress in physical, social, and cognitive development through structured activities and free play.
• Maintain proper discipline to create a positive teaching environment.
• Team Collaboration:
• Guide and involve Teacher Assistants in classroom planning and activities.
• Foster a team-oriented environment with transparency, support, and a solution-driven attitude.
• Parent and Community Engagement:
• Recognize parents as primary educators and assist them in their role.
• Encourage parent involvement and maintain open communication.
• Safety and Hygiene:
• Maintain high standards of hygiene and safety at all times, particularly for diaper changes and meal/snack times.
• Provide first aid according to established procedures when necessary.
• Administrative Duties:
• Keep detailed records of one-year-olds’ development, routines, and progress while ensuring confidentiality.
• Attend staff meetings and participate in professional development opportunities.

Requirements

• Faith Commitment:
• Be a follower of Jesus Christ, living under His Lordship, and demonstrate spiritual maturity.
• Exhibit a heart for Christian education and Biblical integration in all tasks.
• Educational Qualifications:
• High School diploma or equivalent.
• CPR/First Aid training.
• Skills and Experience:
• Knowledge of early childhood development principles, especially for one-year-olds.
• Understanding of safety and sanitation practices specific to infant and toddler care.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality.
• Experience working in a team-oriented environment.

Nice To Haves

• Early childhood credentials or active pursuit of such credentials
• Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field.
• Previous experience leading a classroom for infants or toddlers.
• Familiarity with Christian curriculum planning.
• Creativity in designing engaging learning activities for one-year-olds.
• Experience with record-keeping and classroom management systems.
