Job Title: Shipping and Receiving Associate

Job Description

This role focuses on managing all aspects of shipping, receiving, and order fulfillment within a warehouse environment. You will pick and prepare customer orders using a Microsoft Surface tablet, coordinate shipments with carriers, receive and verify incoming materials, and ensure accurate documentation of all goods moving in and out of the facility. The position combines hands-on warehouse work with regular use of computers and shipping systems.

Responsibilities

• Pick customer orders using a Microsoft Surface tablet, ensuring accuracy and timely processing.
• Bring picked orders to the shipping and receiving department for packaging and final preparation.
• Assemble, package, weigh, and label products for shipment in accordance with company standards.
• Determine appropriate shipping methods, routes, and rates for materials to be shipped.
• Contact carrier representatives to arrange shipping and delivery and to issue instructions as needed.
• Prepare and maintain detailed records of goods shipped, including shipping documents and tracking information.
• Create and manage bills of lading, post weights and shipping charges, and keep organized files of shipping records.
• Receive incoming shipments of raw materials and supplies and verify their accuracy against bills of lading, invoices, and other documentation.
• Record and track goods received, report damaged items or shortages, and escalate issues as required.
• Deliver or route materials to internal departments using hand trucks, conveyors, or sorting bins.
• Handle customer returns, including receiving, documenting, and routing them for appropriate processing.
• Use sit-down forklifts, pallet jacks, and stretch wrappers at times to load and unload trucks and move pallets for staging; training is available for these tasks.
• Utilize shipping platforms such as FedEx and related systems to process shipments.
• Assist with basic inventory tasks, including checking stock and helping maintain accurate counts.

Essential Skills

• At least 1 year of shipping and receiving experience in a warehouse or similar environment.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds safely and repeatedly as part of daily duties.
• Excellent computer skills with fluency in Microsoft Excel and Outlook.
• Experience or strong aptitude in customer service, including professional communication with internal and external stakeholders.
• Exposure to or experience with forklift operations
• Familiarity with shipping processes and carriers such as UPS and FedEx.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience using pallet jacks to move and stage pallets within the warehouse (trainable).
• Ability to operate stretch wrappers for securing palletized loads (trainable).
• Previous sit-down forklift experience (trainable for candidates with strong warehouse backgrounds).
• Experience with SAP or similar enterprise resource planning systems for inventory or shipping functions.
• General warehouse, material handling, and inventory experience in small-team environments.
• Strong organizational skills for maintaining accurate shipping and receiving records.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a small warehouse team.
• Reliable attendance and punctuality, with a focus on completing assigned tasks efficiently.

1st Shift Hours : 8am-4:30pm Monday-Friday

Work Environment

The facility provides innovative corrosion protection solutions to a variety of industrial markets, including petrochemical, metalworking, telecommunications, electronics and electrical, utilities, construction, military and government, marine, basic metals, automotive, and equipment maintenance. The work setting is a hands-on environment where employees are expected to show up on time, focus on their tasks, and follow clear processes for clocking in and out. The warehouse team is small, typically around four to five people, allowing for strong teamwork and collaboration. The area is fairly clean, equipped for material handling with tools such as hand trucks, conveyors, pallet jacks, stretch wrappers, and forklifts, and uses computers and tablets for order processing and shipping coordination.

This is a Permanent position based out of Saint Paul, MN.

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $24.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
