Associate/Full Professor

Cleveland State University Engaged Learning The Department of Communication Sciences & Disorders in the College of Health at Cleveland State University invites applications for a full‑time, 9‑month, tenure‑track Associate or Full Professor position beginning August 17, 2026. This role is based on a nine‑month academic year contract, with the potential for additional summer work on a supplemental contract. The faculty member will teach both online and in‑person classes at the graduate and undergraduate levels, engage in scholarly research, seek external grants, and contribute to department, college, university and community service. This position requires an on‑campus presence and is not a remote position. The department is rapidly growing with approximately 75 undergraduate and 140 graduate students and offers a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Arts in Communication Sciences & Disorders. The Master’s program includes both residential and distance education components. The College of Health, formed in 2022, houses several health profession departments and offers more than 23 undergraduate and graduate programs. Responsibilities Teach online and in‑person courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Conduct scholarly research in swallowing, voice disorders, or neurogenic communication disorders. Seek and manage external grant funding, primarily from federal sources such as NIH and CDC. Serve the department, college, university, and community through teaching, research, and service activities. Maintain an on‑campus presence and support campus academic life. Minimum Qualifications PhD, EdD, or closely related field from a regionally accredited institution. At least seven years of experience as a Speech‑Language Pathologist. Annual maintenance of the ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC‑SLP). Record of securing external funding from federal agencies. Evidence of strong scholarship, including peer‑reviewed publications, grant activity, and presentations. Evidence of research mentoring of doctoral or master’s level students. Evidence of potential to teach both undergraduate and graduate courses in SLP. Preferred Qualifications Successful teaching experience in a post‑secondary setting. Research interests in dysphagia and neurogenic communication disorders. Record of academic and/or professional service in communication sciences and disorders. Ability to teach across a range of CSD content areas. Interest in teaching in the PhD Transdisciplinary Health Science and Technology Program.
