Property Claims Manager

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Property Claims Manager based in United States.

Lead the strategic oversight and continuous improvement of first-party property claims across a growing commercial insurance portfolio.
You will guide the handling of accelerated, large, complex, and high-exposure losses while ensuring consistent, compliant, and efficient resolution strategies.
The role combines technical claims expertise with leadership of TPAs, adjusters, legal partners, and other external vendors.
You will monitor performance, strengthen quality standards, and use claims data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
Working closely with Underwriting, Product, Legal, and senior leadership, you will provide insights that influence risk selection, policy language, and claims strategy.
You will also help shape catastrophe response, subrogation, risk transfer, governance, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Accountabilities:

• Provide strategic oversight and technical direction for first-party property claims, including accelerated, large, complex, and high-exposure losses.
• Manage and monitor TPA, adjuster, counsel, and vendor performance through audits, scorecards, escalations, governance sessions, and adherence to established processes.
• Support claims professionals and partners with coverage analysis, coverage determinations, subrogation, resolution strategies, and complex claim decisions.
• Establish and maintain reserve best practices, authority levels, resolution thresholds, and portfolio management standards.
• Coordinate with legal partners on coverage strategy, alternative dispute resolution, litigation management, and file-level or panel oversight where applicable.
• Lead initiatives that improve claims workflows, quality assurance programs, performance analytics, and overall operational efficiency.
• Monitor and report on key performance indicators, quality, compliance, large-loss activity, exposure trends, and other portfolio metrics.
• Provide claims insights to senior leadership, Underwriting, and Product teams to support risk selection, policy language, endorsements, and broader risk strategy.
• Identify jurisdictional trends, regulatory developments, legal changes, and case law that may affect claim outcomes and portfolio exposure.
• Contribute to enterprise risk management initiatives and identify opportunities to strengthen controls and reduce risk.
• Monitor file-handling trends and resolution strategies while supporting training, quality reviews, and governance activities.
• Oversee the adjustment of commercial property claims, including large, complex, and volume losses, across internal and external teams.
• Lead complex coverage issues and coordinate with counsel when appropriate.
• Oversee catastrophe response activities and field vendor coordination.
• Drive subrogation and risk transfer strategies across the property claims portfolio.
• Identify trends and opportunities for continuous improvement and provide relevant reporting and analysis to senior management.

Requirements:

• 7+ years of subject-matter-specific claims experience in a desk adjusting environment, such as an MGA, insurer, or TPA.
• Demonstrated experience managing desk adjusting or property claims teams.
• Experience leading teams or directly managing field adjusting, property claims teams, and/or external claims vendors.
• Proven experience managing TPAs, legal counsel, and claims vendors while maintaining quality and performance standards.
• Advanced knowledge of property coverage forms, claims management strategies, and jurisdictional considerations.
• Strong leadership, analytical, communication, and influencing skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across functions.
• Experience using claims systems, diary management tools, performance tracking, and related technology in a remote-first environment.
• Strong ability to manage complex and high-exposure claims while balancing technical accuracy, business objectives, compliance, and customer outcomes.
• A college degree is preferred.
• Insurance designations are preferred.
• Experience supporting organizations through periods of significant or rapid growth is a plus.
• Experience with quality assurance, continuous process improvement, UX/UI, design thinking, Lean, Agile, project management, or product ownership is a plus.
• Bilingual capabilities, including Spanish, Mandarin, Korean, Arabic, or another relevant language, are a plus.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship.
