About the Position

License: Virginia license pending accepted. Certifications: BLS preferred, ACLS preferred, not required. Must-Have: Epic experience required. Description: This is a clinical position focused on providing care in an acute care unit. The patient population primarily consists of general surgery and trauma patients. Post-surgical patients make up 90% of the unit, with medical diagnoses comprising the remaining 10%. All rooms are equipped for cardiac monitoring, capnography, or end-tidal CO2 monitoring, and continuous pulse oximetry. The unit has a staffing ratio that typically allows for 4 patients per nurse. Nursing staff may be required to float to other acute care units as needed. Ideally, candidates should possess skills in BiPAP/CPAP management and interpretation of dysrhythmias. Nurses will collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams including IV teams, physical therapy, and social services. The role involves managing a diverse array of patient diagnoses including trauma, emergency general surgery, and surgical oncology. Support teams are available for IV care and wound management. Candidates must adhere to float policies and be flexible with scheduling, which requires working every other weekend and holiday.
