SUPV IT CYBERSECURITY SPECIALIST (SYSADMIN/INFOSEC)

Overview Position recruited under 10 USC 1599f into the Cyber Excepted Service, not eligible for conversion to the Competitive Service. Senior Work Level within the Professional Work Category of the CES Occupational Structure. Located in the DISA – HC/Server LOB. Responsibilities Oversee the management of staff required to install, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain hardware and software to ensure the availability and functionality of information systems in a server environment. Direct the accomplishment of highly critical mission functions of the organization. Stay current with state‑of‑the‑art advanced technology and related industry developments. Reinforce knowledge by studying journals, attending technical seminars, maintaining vendor contacts, and engaging in other activities that keep the team up‑to‑date. Conditions of Employment Must be a U.S. Citizen. Males born after 12‑31‑59 must be registered with or exempt from the Selective Service System. Position accesses classified information; therefore a favorable suitability review and security clearance are required. Failure to maintain clearance eligibility may result in termination. In accordance with DoD 8140 policy, the incumbent must complete Foundational Qualifications within 9 months and Residential Qualifications within 12 months. Qualifications Basic Requirements Attention to Detail – experience reviewing one's own and others' IT work to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency with standards. Customer Service – ability to develop and maintain customer relationships, anticipate current and future IT needs, and identify or develop IT products or services that meet those needs. Oral Communication – capability to brief senior managers and IT staff on system or project status, including conveying complex technical information to non‑technical audiences. Problem Solving – skill in identifying alternatives to address unique, highly complex or sensitive IT issues and evaluating potential solutions. Qualifying Experience Minimum of one (1) year of experience that demonstrates the competency necessary for immediate success in this position. Experience may be paid, unpaid, volunteer, or military service that is equivalent to the next lower federal grade. Eligible experience must include: collaborating with and coordinating a technical team in the administration, maintenance, and security of enterprise operating systems and applications (e.g., UNIX, Windows); and overseeing implementation of Department of War (DoW) Information Security (INFOSEC) policies and Risk Management Framework (RMF) standards. Education No substitution of education is permitted for the qualifying experience at the GG‑13 grade level. Additional Information Telework availability will be based on mission requirements and supervisory determination. Applicants selected for drug‑testing positions at DISA will be required to submit to urinalysis prior to appointment. Three‑year trial or probationary periods may apply for new or previously unclassified appointees. Employee may be required to work off‑shift hours, seven days a week, 24‑hour days, if required by upper management.
