Job Location: Pleasant Hill, CA Long Term Contract Pay Range: $50 to $60/Hr on C2C

• Containerization: Docker
• Kubernetes / Amazon EKS
• Platform engineering and reusable service catalog concepts
• Observability & Security: CloudWatch, Datadog, New Relic, Splunk, or equivalent
• Security scanning and compliance automation
• Incident management and operational monitoring

Role Descriptions:

Infrastructure Automation & Platform Engineering:

• Develop reusable Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) modules using Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or similar tools to automate AWS environment provisioning.
• Build automated deployment patterns for customized instances of the AI Reference Architecture across development, testing, and production environments.
• Establish and maintain standardized AWS landing zones, networking, and platform services.

Security & Governance:

• Implement security-by-design principles across all AWS infrastructure components.
• Design and enforce IAM roles, policies, least-privilege access controls, encryption standards, and security guardrails.
• Integrate compliance, auditability, and governance requirements into all automated platform deployments.
• Relevant AWS platform responsibilities include IAM role management, security hardening, and controlled access management.

Observability & Reliability Engineering:

• Implement monitoring, logging, tracing, and alerting solutions using AWS-native and enterprise observability tools.
• Configure CloudWatch dashboards, alarms, log analytics, and operational metrics for proactive platform management.
• Design self-healing and automated remediation capabilities to improve platform resilience.
• Observability through CloudWatch monitoring and alerting is a key capability demonstrated in AWS platform operations.

Cost Management & FinOps:

• Design and implement cloud cost governance, tagging strategies, budget controls, and usage monitoring.
• Create automated mechanisms for cost optimization, rightsizing, and resource lifecycle management.
• Establish FinOps reporting and chargeback/showback frameworks.
• Cost optimization and tagging governance are core platform engineering practices referenced in internal AWS operations experience.

Integration & DevSecOps Enablement:

• Develop CI/CD pipelines and platform automation frameworks supporting infrastructure and application deployments.
• Implement standard integration patterns for AI services, data platforms, APIs, networking, and security services.
• Collaborate with solution architects, security engineers, data engineers, and AI/ML teams to ensure seamless platform integration.

Documentation & Operational Excellence:

• Produce architecture diagrams, operational runbooks, deployment guides, and technical documentation.
• Establish platform standards, reusable templates, and engineering best practices.
• Support knowledge transfer and operational readiness activities.

Essential Skills:

The AWS Platform Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) solutions that automate the provisioning, configuration, and governance of AWS environments supporting customized deployments of the AI Reference Architecture. The role focuses on creating repeatable, secure, observable, auditable, and cost-optimized cloud platforms that accelerate deployment while ensuring compliance and operational excellence. This aligns with AWS platform engineering capabilities such as Terraform-based provisioning, IAM governance, observability, FinOps controls, and automated environment management identified in internal AWS-related role references.
