Posting Summary


Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Marine Field Worker (Autonomous Surface Vehicle) for the New Jersey Agricultural Experiment Station.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:

• Assists in the operation, data collection, and post-mission data processing of the Jacques Cousteau Reserve's Autonomous Surface Vehicle (a SeaRobotics M1.8 Surveyor ASV) and associated sensors including Edgetech 2205 Sonar Systemand a Velodyne LiDAR puck.

$20 - $25 per hour

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience

• High school/vocational school education or equivalent experience.

Certifications/Licenses

• A valid driver's license would be required for this position.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a scientific field preferred.
• Background in marine science or marine operation with experience in deployment and maintenance of marine technologies.
• Experience completing mapping missions with multibeam/side-scan sonar.
• Experience with the utilization of HYPACK and SonarWiz to complete missions and post-process sonar data.

Equipment Utilized

Physical Demands and Work Environment

• Must be willing to occasionally work on a small vessel at survey locations in the bay.
• Ability to lift 60 - 80 lbs. to launch and retrieve the autonomous surface vehicle.
• Ability to work in a variety of conditions outdoors.
• Work will be conducted primarily at the Rutgers Marine Field Station in Tuckerton, NJ.
