Position Summary
The Senior Accountant will play a key role in maintaining accurate, timely financial records across our five legal entities within QuickBooks. Reporting to the VP of Finance, this role owns core month-end close functions — including balance sheet reconciliations, payroll accounting, intercompany transactions, and fixed asset accounting — and serves as a hands-on contributor in a fast-paced construction accounting environment.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations across multiple legal entities
- Record and reconcile intercompany transactions between the company's five affiliated entities
- Perform payroll accounting, including journal entries, accruals, and payroll-related reconciliations
- Code and reconcile company credit card transactions
- Maintain the fixed asset schedule, including additions, disposals, and depreciation
- Support month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring deadlines are met
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts in QuickBooks
- Assist with account analysis, journal entries, and accrual accounting
- Support annual audits, tax preparation, and other external reporting requests
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and internal controls
- Partner with the VP of Finance on ad hoc financial analysis and reporting
- 2–3 years of progressive accounting experience
- Approximately 2 years of public accounting experience
- Approximately 1 year of private industry experience working within a general ledger system
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Proficiency with QuickBooks (multi-entity experience a plus)
- Strong Excel skills and solid understanding of GAAP fundamentals
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills; able to manage multiple entities and deadlines
- CPA license or active CPA candidacy (not required, but a plus)
- Experience in the construction industry or a project/job-cost accounting environment
- Experience working within a multi-entity or multi-company organizational structure
