Quality Assurance / Quality Control (QA/QC) Technician

Position Overview

Mid Star Lab is looking for a detail-oriented, hands-on QA/QC Technician to help ensure every custom orthotic meets our quality standards and matches the doctor's original order before it ships.

This person will serve as the final quality checkpoint in our manufacturing process. Responsibilities include inspecting finished orthotics, verifying order details and serial numbers, ensuring products are clean and properly packaged, and preparing completed orders for shipment.

When an error or quality issue is identified, this person will work directly with the production employee or workstation responsible for the issue to explain the discrepancy, determine the appropriate correction, and help prevent the same problem from happening again.

We are looking for someone who takes ownership of quality, communicates clearly, and is comfortable addressing problems professionally and working with the team to find solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Quality Inspection & Order Verification

• Inspect finished custom orthotics to ensure they meet Mid Star Lab's quality standards.

• Compare each completed orthotic against the doctor's prescription and original order to verify that all requested specifications have been met.

• Verify that the correct orthotic, materials, modifications, and other ordered features match the doctor's instructions.

• Confirm that serial numbers and identifying information match the order and required documentation.

• Identify defects, inconsistencies, missing details, or other issues before products are approved for shipment.

• Hold orders that do not meet quality standards until the issue has been reviewed and resolved.

Production Communication & Problem Resolution

• Identify the production station or process responsible when an error or discrepancy is found.

• Communicate the issue directly and professionally to the employee or team responsible.

• Work with production employees to determine the appropriate correction and ensure the issue is resolved before the order moves forward.

• Document quality issues and recurring errors as needed.

• Help identify patterns and opportunities to improve production accuracy, consistency, and overall product quality.

• Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

Final Preparation & Shipping

• Ensure finished orthotics are clean and free of debris, residue, or other visible issues.

• Properly bag, tag, label, and prepare each order according to established procedures.

• Verify that the correct items and documentation are included with each order.

• Organize approved orders for outgoing shipment and ensure they are ready to be sent on time.

• Maintain an organized, clean, and efficient quality control workspace.

Teamwork & Quality Standards

• Follow established inspection procedures and quality standards.

• Communicate quality concerns promptly to the appropriate team members or supervisor.

• Help reinforce consistent manufacturing and inspection practices throughout the lab.

• Support improvements to processes that reduce errors, rework, and shipping delays.

Qualifications

• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing accurate, high-quality work.

• Ability to read, interpret, and compare written orders against finished products.

• Strong organizational skills and the ability to follow established procedures.

• Comfortable communicating errors and quality concerns directly and professionally.

• Problem-solving skills and the ability to work with others to determine solutions.

• Ability to work independently while contributing to a team environment.

• Basic computer skills and the ability to document inspections and discrepancies.

• Manufacturing, production, inspection, or quality control experience is preferred but not required for the right candidate.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and move throughout the production and inspection areas during the workday.

• Ability to handle, inspect, and package finished orthotic products.

• Ability to perform repetitive, detail-oriented tasks while maintaining accuracy.
