Whether it’s in the field, in the shops, or in our offices, we are constantly on the lookout for top talent that aligns with our core values, including: Field and Shop Hands Foreman Millwrights Project Managers Human Resources Generalist - El Centro, California Position Summary The Human Resources Generalist supports daily HR operations across California and Arizona, with primary responsibility for administrative and employee lifecycle functions while partnering closely with the HR Manager. This role ensures compliance with multi-state labor laws, maintains accurate HR records, and supports recruiting, onboarding, training coordination, and employee relations initiatives. Based in El Centro, CA, this role provides remote and onsite support to the Mesa, AZ HR function and field operations. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, bilingual (Spanish/English preferred), and experienced in HR systems, compliance, and workforce support in a multi-site environment. Role and Responsibilities Maintain accurate and compliant employee records, including personnel files, I-9 documentation, and benefits records Support HRIS system management, data entry, reporting, and documentation tracking Perform HR-related data entry and generate reports to support HR operations, compliance, and leadership decision-making Assist with full-cycle recruiting including job postings, candidate communication, interview coordination, and onboarding processes Coordinate new hire onboarding, ensuring completion of required documentation and compliance requirements Ensure compliance with federal, California, and Arizona labor laws, including wage and hour regulations, E-Verify, and Cal/OSHA requirements Track employee certifications, licenses, and required training documentation to ensure compliance Assist with internal audits and preparation for external compliance reviews Administer and track employee benefits eligibility, ensuring timely enrollment and accurate recordkeeping Provide employee support and education regarding insurance plans and benefits packages Assist with open enrollment processes, including communication, system updates, and employee support Process and manage benefit changes related to qualifying life events (special enrollments) Train and support supervisors on HR systems for performance management, employee documentation, and policy acknowledgments Ensure accurate tracking of employee reviews, disciplinary actions, and performance improvement plans Serve as a point of contact for employee HR-related questions and provide timely support Support employee relations matters by gathering information, documenting issues, and escalating as appropriate Assist with translation of HR materials and communication for Spanish-speaking employees, as needed Coordinate scheduling and tracking of required training programs, including safety and compliance training Maintain training records and monitor completion rates Support Human Resources campaigns and initiatives to promote engagement, communication, and organizational culture Plan and coordinate company events, including employee engagement activities and company-sponsored fundraising events Provide administrative support to HR and operations teams, including scheduling, reporting, and documentation Support safety initiatives through tracking, coordination, and documentation efforts Maintain confidentiality of sensitive employee information at all times Identify opportunities for process improvements within HR systems and workflows Perform other duties as assigned to support departmental and organizational needs Qualifications and Experience Required Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience) 3–5 years of progressive HR experience, preferably in multi-site or multi-state environments Working knowledge of California and Arizona labor laws and compliance requirements Experience with HRIS systems, applicant tracking systems, and employee record management Strong administrative and organizational skills with high attention to detail Preferred Bilingual in English and Spanish (strongly preferred) Experience in construction, industrial, or field-based workforce environments SHRM-CP or PHR certification (or working toward certification) Skills Strong knowledge of HR operations, compliance, benefits administration, and employee lifecycle management Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities High level of confidentiality and professionalism Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and HR systems Detail-oriented with strong documentation and follow-through skills Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional communication with project stakeholders Core Competencies HR Operations Compliance Organization Communication Physical Requirements Ability to walk and move throughout construction sites and project environments. Ability to operate computers, tablets, or mobile devices for time tracking and operational coordination.
