Grain Valley R-5 School District TRANSPORTATION CENTER - GRAIN VALLEY, Missouri Job Description POSITION SUMMARY: This position is primarily responsible for providing safe assistance during the transportation of students to and from school.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Operates specialized safety equipment on buses in relation to transportation of students with disabilities including wheelchair lifts, wheelchair tie-downs, safety vests and car-seats. Safely secures all wheelchair passengers using tie-downs in accordance with manufacturer specifications. Safely secures all students requiring safety vests and/or car seats. Assists the Bus Driver in maintaining order and discipline among passengers on the bus in accordance with district policies related to disciplining students; prepares related reports as necessary. Determines appropriate action in emergency situations according to established guidelines; administers first aid to passengers as needed. Operates, cares for, and cleans areas and equipment used in the transportation of students. Attends monthly in-service training to improve skills, attitudes and knowledge of transportation guidelines and student management. Demonstrates effective human relations and communications skills. Maintains a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students.REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Must be 18 years of age. Ability to establish effective working relationships with staff and students. Must be able to lift and carry 60 lbs. Previous experience working with children is preferred. Successfully complete the training program provided by the district.WORK ENVIRONMENT:
