Prin Engineer Tech Analyst

Location : This is a hybrid (virtual/onsite) position with required onsite days on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday and may be assigned to any Consumers Energy Service Center located throughout Michigan's lower Peninsula.  The selected candidate must be within a commutable distance or willing to relocate (relocation package is available for those that qualify). 

General Summary of Job Responsibilities

The Principal Engineering Technical Analyst is responsible for leading the development and enhancement of standards and materials, including emerging technologies while continuing to meet all applicable regulatory rules and codes and solving problems for different work groups within compliance of all applicable rules. Requires communication of these standards and direction to both engineers and operations in a concise manner that allows precise application of the standards and technology. Lead complex projects and ensure they are completed according to plan and budget. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide complex engineering services with accuracy, integrate all applicable governmental and company laws, standards and procedures on time and under budget
• Lead and drive discussion in standards committees for the purpose of clarifying and updating engineering and construction standards based on current practices
• Mentor and/or train less experienced or new employees
• Create and conduct divisional technical training and produce work instructions for configuration process and information
• Stay up to date on processes and procedures, standards and rates: Be a part of the changes/updates/process enhancements, know changes and when to provide coaching to assigned mentees and coach on the most up to date and recent technical/process/procedure/standards/regulations, etc.
• Search for and identify future project work to ensure Consumers Energy is at the forefront of project initiation and effectively partnering with stakeholders
• Review operating and construction sites to monitor progress and other duties per the design documents. Visit sites as required
• Other duties as assigned or may be necessary

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

• Proficient with Power Apps, Power Automate and PowerBI
• Working understanding of Agile Methodologies 
• Able to research and understand advanced industry trends and provide utility benchmarking
• Teamwork, analytical thinking, and willingness to learn new topics
• Ability to manage multiple conflicting projects and priorities simultaneously
• Communication and Presentation Skills
• Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, TEAMs, etc.)
• Lean methodologies and tools

Education/Experience Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in a Technical or related field with 7 years of experience in roles conducting Engineering technical analysis work
• [OR] Associate's Degree in a Technical or related field with 9 years of experience in roles conducting Engineering technical analysis work
• [OR] High School Diploma with 11 years of experience in roles conducting Engineering technical analysis work
