Role Description The Client Portfolio Manager (“CPM”) is responsible for managing a select group of client relationships, serving as their primary investment and advisory contact. The CPM is a member of the Family Investment Team, reporting to the Chief Investment Officer and also functions as an integral member of the Family Partnership Team. The CPM will ensure that client portfolios are aligned with investment strategy, risk parameters, long-term objectives, and the broader goals of the Family Partnership. The ideal candidate combines strong investment acumen, excellent communication skills, and a deep appreciation for relationship management in a family-office or ultra-high-net-worth environment. Key Responsibilities Collaborate with the CIO and Investment Team to implement firmwide investment strategy and portfolio guidelines. Oversee day-to-day portfolio management workflows, including portfolio implementation, rebalancing oversight, tax-efficient trading, and multi-asset trade execution. Supervise ongoing portfolio monitoring efforts and proactively identify performance deviations, allocation drift, and risk exposures; recommend timely adjustments to Chief Investment Officer and Family Partners. Maintain deep oversight of realized and unrealized gains/losses to optimize tax efficiency across client portfolios. Ensure compliance with the firm’s Investment Philosophy and current Investment Committee guidance in all portfolio decisions and rebalancing actions. Manage and approve all trades within Portfolio Management Systems and coordinate settlement with custodians. Monitor client liquidity needs, forecast cash flows, and ensure appropriate positioning for upcoming distributions, contributions, or planned investment activity. Use independent judgment in generating portfolio recommendations, investment rationales and strategic memos for the CIO, Investment Committee, and clients. Operational Oversight & Process Improvement Oversee Portfolio Management Associate in supporting portfolio operations, providing direction, feedback, and training. Act as primary liaison with third-party vendors, custodians, and technology providers to ensure accurate data feeds, timely reporting, and efficient trade execution. Maintain working knowledge of best-in-class investment solutions, operational tools, and portfolio management technologies. Client Service & Communication Serve as the primary advisor for an assigned group of clients, delivering proactive, high-touch service. Act as an investment subject-matter expert during client and prospect meetings, alongside Family Partners. Conduct periodic portfolio reviews, presenting investment updates, performance attribution, and recommendations. Anticipate client needs and coordinate solutions across investment, tax, planning, and operational areas. Help maintain and evolve client education materials and investment communication frameworks. Assist in preparing and presenting materials for Family Partnership meetings and events. Work closely with Family Partners and Financial Planning teams to ensure alignment between financial planning assumptions and portfolio management records. Provide oversight and guidance on data input into planning software such as MoneyGuidePro, Portfolio Visualizer, Holistiplan, etc. Integrate planning outputs into investment recommendations and portfolio construction decisions. Qualifications & Experience Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or related field strongly preferred. 5-7+ years of experience in portfolio management, investment advisory, wealthy advisory, private wealth management, or related investment functions. Strong command of capital markets, portfolio theory, asset allocation, investment products, and financial planning principles. Demonstrated ability to communicate investment concepts to both sophisticated and non-technical audiences. Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities with strong attention to detail. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and strong familiarity with portfolio management systems (e.g., Tamarac), performance analytics tools, and financial planning software (e.g., MoneyGuidePro). Professional designations such as CFA, CIMA, CAIA, or CFP preferred or willingness to pursue. Experience mentoring or managing junior team members is a plus.
