This position will allow you to use your experience to provide substantive clerical support to support Customs and Border Protection's mission. This position starts at a salary of $46,610.00 (GS-05, Step 1) to $67,543.00 (GS-06, Step 10) with promotion potential to $75,059 (GS-7 Step 10).

In this Supply Technician position, you will become a key team member of Homeland Security professionals to provide substantive clerical support services. Typical work assignments include:

• Providing support to the Office of Training and Development's Advanced Training Center warehouse to include ordering, receiving, inventorying and transferring supplies.
• Assisting with overseeing the lost, stolen, destroyed, or missing property program.
• Assisting with annual, bi-annual or other periodic inventory requirements.
• Maintaining inventory, warranty, maintenance and control records for all equipment received and shipped out.

Qualifications

Experience: You qualify for the GS-05 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as:

• Assisting with basic supply functions such as receiving, storing, and issuing supplies and property, following established procedures and instructions.
• Supporting routine inventory activities by conducting simple physical counts of supplies and equipment and reporting discrepancies to a supervisor.
• Maintaining straightforward records of incoming and outgoing shipments, ensuring accurate documentation under close supervision.
• Using material handling equipment (e.g., hand trucks or pallet jacks) to move supplies within storage areas, adhering to safety guidelines provided by supervisors.

Experience: You qualify for the GS-06 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as:

• Performing ordering, receiving, inventorying, and transferring of supplies and property.
• Preparing and tracking shipments and coordinating with management and local offices to resolve shipping and inventory issues.
• Assisting with periodic inventory requirements by conducting physical inventories and maintaining records for equipment, supplies, warranty, and maintenance.
• Operating material handling equipment, including forklifts and power stackers, to move and store supplies and equipment in warehouse environments.
• Applying supply management regulations, policies, and procedures to support procurement actions, monitor contractor performance, and recommend corrective actions.

Education Substitution: Successfully completed a full 4-year course of study beyond high school in any field

Combining Experience and Education: Combination of education and experience as described above, the total of which equals at least one year

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Residency: There is a residency requirement for all applicants not currently employed by CBP. Individuals are required to have physically resided in the United States or its protectorates (as declared under international law) for at least three of the last five years. Physical Demands: Frequent lifting and carrying of equipment and supplies that can weigh up to 50-70 lbs. may be required.

Motor Vehicle Operation: You must possess a valid state driver's license at the time of appointment.

Equipment Requirement: The incumbent must be able to operate a forklift/power stacker.
