Registered Nurse – IMC / PCU / Stepdown (Regional Nurse Consultant)

Contract | Days / Nights (12-hour shifts, 7a–7p or 7p–7a) | Onsite | Every other weekend and every other holiday required

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a 32-bed telemetry/cardiac unit serving adult and geriatric populations with diagnoses including cardiac catheterizations, EP studies, pacers, sepsis, pneumonia, influenza, ETOH, COVID with BiPAP, and acute-on-chronic conditions
• Maintain nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4–5 (with occasional 1:5–6 on nights); manage PCU-level overflow patients at a 1:3 ratio
• Titrate vasoactive and cardiac drips including Amiodarone, Cardizem, Heparin, Nitroglycerin, Nipride, Lasix, and low-dose Dopamine
• Independently read and interpret telemetry strips ; unit is supported by portable tele monitors, in-room monitors, and a station tech
• Manage respiratory equipment including BiPAP, trachs, and Airvo; troubleshoot as needed
• Float as needed to PCU (full patient load), Medical-Surgical (full assignment), and ER holds/boarding

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
• BLS certification required
• ACLS certification required
• PCU experience required; must be able to read and interpret cardiac strips
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible; candidates may not currently hold full-time, part-time, or PRN employment with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity Health
• All requested time off (7 days or fewer per 13-week contract) must be submitted upfront; additional RTO will not be approved

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with Epic EMR preferred
• Background in telemetry or cardiac nursing strongly preferred
