Kingfisher Recruiting has partnered with an auto repair shop near St Johns, MI to find an Automotive Mechanic in Saint Johns, MI (12 miles North of Lansing).

• Identify mechanical problems, either visually or with computer diagnostic equipment.
• Performs tests on specific parts and systems to confirm proper mechanical function; ensures that all critical parts are examined.
• Repair or replace malfunctioning parts and systems, such as brake pads, belts, water pumps, transmissions, and other mechanical parts in accordance with state certification.
• Perform routine and preventive maintenance, including oil changes, and tune-ups.
• Perform general handling of passenger, light truck, medium truck, small to large farm and industrial tires to include tire repairs, and changes.
• Perform further tests, which may include test driving the vehicle, to ensure repairs are completed correctly.
• Perform maintenance of equipment and store vehicles as requested.
• Provide timely communication with management and team members regarding status and applicable needs and complete repairs in a timely manner.
• Communicate and educate customers in a professional manner to discuss issues or problems with customer vehicles.
• Proper handling of inventory and other shop tools and supplies.
• All other duties as assigned are based on the needs of the business.

Work Experience Requirements

• 2+ years’ work experience post state licensure /certification
• Knowledge of all aspects of vehicle repair, manuals, work orders, and service.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proficient with computer diagnostic equipment and software.
• Must have the ability to perform work in a safe manner and adhere to safety policies.
• Must have initiative and the ability to work in a team environment or independently.
• Must be able to handle pressure and think clearly in all situations.
• Ability to work overtime.

Requirements

• Interested in becoming ASE licensed in Steering, Suspension and Brakes within 1 year
• Must provide own tools
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid State Driver’s License.
